Whether she argued or not is not the friggin' point.....
The point is, is the sipping of water on the MRT a punishable offence now?

Punishable offences also include:
- drinking plain water / mineral water
- drinking from a bottle
- eating sweet
- eating peanut
Mothers caught breast-feeding their child will be asked to alight the trian and / or leave the station and do it elsewhere.
i dont like this idea

haha...i'll probably play with SMRT...see how long they can catch me...
i dont mind if it's food then get caught, but plain water? nowadays weather is so unpredictable, can't even drink? I'll sure to complain, or do anything till they remove this fcuking rule...
it is a GREAT idea! wel done SMRT.. lets have a plesent with nice fresh aircon journey..
but 1 thing! DRINKING MINERAL WATER ALSO CANNOT?! wah piang..
I feel if we are gracious enough to eat and drink discreetly, then it's ok.
But since majority dun care and continue to misbehave, then we can't blame the authorities for stepping in.

Banning the eating sweets and peanuts is fair enough; we can all live without that.
But plain water is banned too? To me that's just overzealousness.
If I'm feeling faint due to dehydration, I still have to step out of the train first before I can drink from my water bottle?
Sure, some dumb passenger might spill the water on the floor and make it wet. But then in that case, they might as well ban all passengers with wet shoes on a rainy day.
As long as someone eat and / or drink in the train, on the platform, in the station concourse, and no matter what is being eaten / drank, it is an offence.
IMO drinking water should not be banned. All the more if it's plain water. Humans require that.
SMRT seems to be stepping up on their regulations but there is a fine line between what is can and what is cannot. Banning drinking of plain water is simply too far-fetched and over the line. I hope the authorities can clarify...

No wor. You have to go all the way out of the MRT station and come back in later. -__-"
This is definitely way too much. Stupid rule
Lets say you take from Pasir Ris and headin towards the Joo Koon side.. 1hr ++ ride cannot drink water?
Simply brainless.
looks like the only solution is a camelbak
"Excuse me. Are u drinking?"
"No..im blowing a balloon"
$(#& lah..
so.. personal responsibility and social graces are to be enforced?
ahahahahahaha
Quite a few people wrote to TODAY to raise a ruckus over this.... and they all hammered home the same point.
By all means whack those idiots who eat burgers and drink Pepsi on the MRT, but lay off those who just want a swig of plain water!
I also read that those who need to take medications on the train should approach SMRT staff for 'special arrangements'.... so, I need their permission to take medications?
Drinking water also cannot?!! *rolleyes* HUMAN RIGHTS LEH!
What if you are feeling unwell, sore throat & need a sip of water? What if you are taking train from Pasir Ris to Joo Koon or something & for that period you can't even sip a bit of water?
Or what if the toddler needs a bottle of milk to keep the mouth shut from crying, shrieking etc but the SMRT people came up & fine the poor toddler & send it to jail if he can't pay? =(
Sadded
haiz, looks like I won't get away with drinking my starbucks coffee on buses anymore.
Yesterday I was writing an essay on blanket censorship, today I woke up to find a thread on blanket ban on eating and drinking on trains.
In the future also cannot swallow saliva.
