As I watched 630pm ch 8 news just now, there's a new report that says "imposing fines" to passengers that break the rules like eating, drinking. etc
Trainset they flimed were 097/098 and 039/040....and Toa Payoh Station
Any comments just post it here.. Thanks
how are they going to enforce this? how?
SMRT sends their employees on a routine patrol ba
should be doing patroling as I saw on the news as well

so how? they hand out summons to the offenders? but what happens when the buses and trains are too crowded? or if commuters get angry and beat them up? bus drivers are already being beaten up.

stun gun
once saw MRT Police stop a group of kids from playing cards in the train...
Maybe SMRT is reacting after so many posts in webbies like Stomp that so many people are either eating/drinking or making a nuisance out of themselves.
Does it apply to trains only or on buses too? Anyway its a good thing. It's the way Singapore is meant to function...the rules were put in place for a reason and without anyone enforcing it, no one bothered to follow it. At least there would be lesser nuisances now on trains
if I'm sleeping on the bus/train and never see the pregnant woman or the elderly in front of me, will I get fined? or are they going to ban sleeping on public transport as well?
and if I'm feeling really sick and don't wish to give up my seat for the elderly or pregnant, do I need to produce MC?
drink 7up sprite in distilled water bottle, fined?
first thing.. how the hell does the "patrol" move about seeing the trains are packed beyond capacity as it is
If I have a migraine, and I take Panadol with a swig from my water bottle, will I get fined?
I doubt anyone would be drinking or eating if the trains are packed enough to hinder movement.
If I drool as I sleep will I get fined?
good
at least it teach those people a lesson but FINE TO EXPENSIVE..

i dunno.. maybe the others will beat you to death for being a bus freak
SMRT Policeman
good news ma..
at least got people who can finally carry out these laws and fines liao le
IIRC there a squad of anti-terrorist police unit that patrol within the MRT trains at times...so in cases of abuse to CSO..maybe they will call these guys to deal with the matter? after all they are still a police unit.
I read today's TODAY. There's an article in there on this matter.
It said that one nurse got a warning for attempting to sip plain water.
So how? I drink water because I have to take Panadol, I will also kena saman?

But she argued and said,
"Did you see me taking a sip?" if I recalled correctly...
