(There seems to be no topic regarding the people in charge of driving the train so i want to start this topic as per title in recongnition of them)
It seems to me that actually the Train Officer job is interesting, knowing Singapore through working in SMRT company among others. But of course there are cons to it, like stressful and difficulties to handle the train. What are your views?
[keep this discussion civil thanks. :)]
Well, my uncles works at the control centre of City Hall MRT Station but i have no chance to ask him. Anyway, the driver must be alert to look out for notices at a station; he/she should not be sitting there, watching the train.

Hi bro,
Thanks for the help! I appreciate alot!!! Really need those information.
Train Officers are employed in batches. Currently, no openings for NSL train officers as the last one was carried out about 1 month ago.
But CCL will be taking (currently taking in SM)....eventually, there will be opening for CSO (Customer Service Officers).
CSO of CCL will also be trained to operate the C830 EMU's.
However, as and when your friend can look up at SMRT website under 'careers'...

Under the link, i did not see any Train Officer post anymore, in the past, there is Train Officer post, but now don't have, you know what's the reason?
As for the gross too, how they pay?
Sorry ar bro, ask alot of questions, but i'm really interested to know:)
Hahaha,
to keep it short.
They stop hiring TOs for the moment. Have to check in the web at least once a month for updates.
Sorry cant answer those questions, might be too confidential...
Okay is okay.. Then where to check the web? Which website?
As stated in my post above...
but the link you post, don't have Train Officers post..
thats why you have to check.
it will get updated if the post is available.
what if you write a letter to smrt and ask them? wouldnt that be easier?

as for CCL onwards the only TO are technical officers..not train officers, these duties are taken over by CSOs where some of their duties are
1)manning the train in emergency case
2) manning the station control on other times
incase you dun notice most circle line trains are driverless with a CSO as a standby on the head of the train section.
CSO got a lot job scopes so please look and READ carefully.
@linwei20
listed below in red is what you seek(taken off MRT career classifieds)...along with other things to it...but no longer called TO as in train operator in times to come.
As a Customer Service Offi cer for the upcoming Circle Line stations, you will provide excellent customer service to our passengers to make their journey with SMRT a delightful one. You will assist in the operation and control of an MRT station, which includes monitoring of station equipment, responding to station emergencies and other station related duties. You will assume the responsibilities of the Station Manager during his/her absence.
Requirements:
You must have a minimum NITEC in Engineering, preferably from Electronics, Electrical or Mechanical discipline. You will be tasked to drive our trains in preparation for emergencies. Successful candidates will undergo a structured training program to be equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to perform these duties. You must be prepared to perform rotating shift duties.

To make it shorter the phrase, 'Train Operator' post have been converted to 'Customer Service Officer(CSO)'? CSO also like the same as TO in the past? Handling the train?
What do you men by 'you will be tasked to drive our trains in preparation for emergencies'? As a NITEC Engineering Electronics Cert can apply for it?
i think in this current economy. any job is worth considering. :) just my two cents.
