Since Jan, various portions (or in fact majority) of NSL seem to have their old tracks replaced by new ones. When trains travel on the new tracks, a loud low pitched sound would be produced, this sound is similar to those found on MTR East Rail. Just wondering whether any residents living next to the tracks complained about this.
DId they change, or replace with a newer rail? Hmm..
They are using UIC60 rails. KTM are using UIC54 on the northern part, while the southern side is still using the old BS80A.
like on which part.? cuz the BLE uses concrete tracks

Since i live JUST directly opposite the MRT tracks (NSL Line), ive observed tht they had replaced the tracks to the new ones since December. Originally, when the train goes past the tracks just after CCK Station towards Bukit Gombak Stn, it would produce a loud 'grong grong' sound. But after replacement of the tracks, it literally produced a much lower sound than it usually is, which is really good! :)
Rails are replaced, when they are really really causing trouble.. Such as, a high chance of a derailment of trains.. Or a flat head on the rails...
It could probably mean the replacement of a section of the track, but not the whole stretch. It won't be possible for them to replace in a few hours as current will start flowing at 5am for the morning trains..
Sometimes, sounds that you heard on the train, aren't always cause by the rail itself. You must understand that the wheels on the bogies, have to got for wheel profiling, to make the wheels go back to the round shape again.. Let say, in the wheel, there's a part of the wheel which is flat. There will be a "thump" sound evertime the wheel make a complete rotation. I've experienced that before on at C751B. Reminds me of a steam locomotive instead.

Nah, you know that the sound is created by the rails because it is created on every train which travel on the NSL, and changes back to the normal sound when it travel back to "old" tracks.

It differs bro.
I've asked an SMRT personnel already. What more can I say? This is what he states..
I think Buona Vista has tracks changed , there are low pitch sound produced when the train arrive/depart the station.
