there's always the pros & cons..
anyway, if its really true then I'm glad that it will be extended for another 1.5hrs..

by removing more seats :D
Guys , just bear with it for another year. Once circle line is up, I bet congestion will ease much better. Imagine large quantity of commuter alight at Buona Vista....

money comes before the comfort of the commuters.
I've got the perfect solution: introduce double-decked MRT carriages. This will increase the capacity of the trains by a whopping 100%!!!
Haiz.......
Think until so complicated, all they need do is reduce the wait duration to 2 minutes, problem solved.
But they want to maximize commuters by squeezing as many in as few trains as possible, so that they can show good profit figures for Temasek.
the root of the problem is our population
too many people in SG
NB, today I dunno change carriage how many times.
Go this carriage got ppl sneezing, then walk to next carriage got ppl sneezing also.
Pai mia.
if root of the problem is the population, then lee hsien loong and papa are also the root problem. they are the ones who allows increase in population. this serve their pockets well, money money money
Have double decker or elongated trains also no use. Platform size still the same, so people are going to crowd near the doors ANYWAY.
Even if we have a ten-car EMU, everyone's gonna crowd at the doors of the 6 EMUs.
Even if double decker, everyone will come down to the lower level and still crowd the doors, unless we build a double-storey platform.
Simple solution - just make the entire length of the train a BIG LONG DOOR. No need walls, just a long door stretching from one end to the other. So no matter where you are, you are always gonna be near the door :P
Or else, just the floor and the roof, without any walls. So commuters dont need to wait for doors to open and they can rush out haha.
have double decker train means they have to reconstruct the tunnel to accommodate the double decker

Who said anything about increasing the height of the carriages to accommodate the second deck?
still hoping for the announcing of DTL, ERL and coastal line, hope that SMRT can promise us
i believe that seats removal still can solve overcrowding and provide more air to breathe on
if the mrt are not congested, the company is not making money. Sad fact of life.
the only solution we can have and it will work, is to increase train frequency.
if we add double decker trains, we need to reconstruct stations and tunnels too.
if we add more carriages, we need to extend the platforms too.
best thing, car-pool lor. hahaha.
How about making most of the seats foldable. SMRT can fold them during peak hours and unfold it afterwards. Some seats(for example the 2 seats near the door) can remain unchanged for the elderly, pregnant woman and people who needs a seat. Folding the seats allows the train to take in more people. (if fold two seat can stand one more person, the train can take in 100 people more)

Passengers can go to the extra carrige through the connection between each carriage, thus MRTs can still stop in the station in the same way. The carriages are only added during peak hours. Do you think this idea is feasible?
if i not wrong the carriages is 6 now rite than my mother sae 66 da sune
but if add more horh than all the MRT station under consturction ?
