Recently in the East-West Line, i have noticed, that the announcements are becoming deafening loud. That even having a music player plugged to ear won't help. Last day, it was so loud, that while sitting we could feel the vibration on the seats. Even the other passengers where complaining.
Really hope the relevant authorities to take necessary action.
how about writing in to smrt?
tml i go try try.havent been taking train lately.
What train no.?
I thought it was fine, unless it got even louder since I took the train last week.
I used to think it was too soft and would have to strain my ears to hear which station the train was approaching when sitting with my back to the station. Then recently I took the train again and the announcements were loud enough to be heard above the train noise. Which I thought was good.
try asking the TO to lower down the volume..
Sometimes too loud, sometimes too soft.
Most C151 announcements are loud (took 111/112 b4 and the announcements were very soft)
C651 announcements are mostly soft.
C751B sound got a bit of echo effect.
yeah i do admit that.. usually it is just fine for everyone to hear. but sometimes during evening when i take mrt from city hall to jurong east about 9 plus, its usually very loud. And the weird thing is, the announcement just before reaching the station is louder than the "NEXT STATION" announcement. Like asking us to get out of the train.. donno whether they wanna wake up all those sleeping in the train.. if thats their motive.

unlike many people in the train and noisy, announcement will be loud.. better.. =D
i oso encountered before. and i had to tolerate all the way fm aljunied to boon lay ..
Sometimes it was soft, so soft that we cannot hear anything. Too bad for ppl who nap cos they may miss their destination.
I want Juanita Melson's voice bak in to the mrt. I don't mind if her voice was loud at least it sounded very nice. Not like the new one, when loud that time, i want read book also cannot, pronouce station names also a little wrong ): But NEL's train annoucements are really quite soft i cant seem to hear anything when traveling through the tunnels...
the NEL, i like the previous one (only english).. simple and sweet

still remember the times when 067/068 is unrefurbished...can still hear the announcements from the concourse!
i donno how to explain this.. today also it happened.. so damn bloody loud. .until one passenger had to go and talk to the TO to make it soft.. and alas.. although it was soft for a while, it began to be louder after that.. really had to suffer till jurong.. is this MRT for public or do we public have to suffer this nonsense from these kinda ppl.. we are not taking the ride for free.. we are paying it.. and nowadays work is so tiring.. ppl want some peace of mind while going back home.. not SCREAMING announcements in the train.. i wont be surprised if thers gonna be commotion in the train just becoz of this issue..
i only experience this when the train is quite empty

isit on a C151. last time before refurbishment usually the announcement is too soft to be heard when underground. now after refurbishment there is no need to turn up the volume but will still be clear enough.
which train number was it? or does it apply to many of the trains?
Ha,i just exprienced it when the train(311/312)appoached Ang Mo Kio,the TO PURPOSELY make the announcements very loud, telling passengers that this train is not for passenger svc as it is a lunchtime train
For people to record

311/312's anonuncements are very loud. That time I took it once and I tried to record the announcements as it was too loud. :P
OFF TOPIC: 311/312's sideways look like a C151, don't mistake it for one.

Me too, but not "deafening" as how hardcrash describes it.
i don't mind having juanita melson's voice LOUD in the train.. the new voice is just too sharp and pitchy, makes it really hard on the ears.

i almost mistook it for a C151 one evening...evening door frames..

her voice has a pleasing, mellow tone..
the current one?
i understand the pressing need for clarity of the voice.. but hey. this one's ear-piercing, not clear.
last time the speakers in the unrefurbed were just only 4 of them.. now it has increased by over 2000% after refurbishment
