I'll be repeating what I wrote on STOMP here. On Monday, 6 PM+, I missed a train as I came out from the SB platform in City Hall. Then the RATIS says "6 mins". Then I was like OMG 6 MIN!?!?!?!?! I waited and waited, and 4 trains came and go at the SB platform already, so the crowd built up.
I missed a total of 3 trains (not including the 1st one) due to overcrowding. Trains came at 6 min, 4 min, then 5 min. PEAK HOUR LEH!!
peak hour is always like 2min, 3min, 2min, 2min then a few trains later it starts becoming 5mins, 6mins, 6mins
SMRT freq is 2 - 5 mins wat
I think SMRT is doing the best to get an 2 min. or less frequency. But I think other countries also have trains coming in 6 minutes... it's very difficult always to let trains arrive within 2 minutes. sometimes you are lucky and only have to wait for 1 or 2 minutes, if you don't have lucky you have to wait longer..
Hongkong MTR has trains fequency comming in at only <1min (lessthan 1min) during peak hours, so why cant smrt do it?
PM Peak hour South Bound MRT at Yew Tee is a freaking 6mins (thanks to DNB trains U-turning at Yew Tee)
OT: took NEL yesterday afternoon. displays says HBF: 5mins, 14mins (freq is 9mins for NEL nowadays?)

this is rush hour hong kong mtr... and as you can see they really don't have a frequency less than 1 min.... and it's also very crowded at the platform... I have also seen some videos of the hong kong mtr that trains were too crowded that the doors were not able to close for 2 minutes or longer. together it's alreade 4 or 5 mins..... so i don't think mtr is faster
and SMRT has won the best metro and best asian metro. that means that Singapore MRT is better than HK MTR and totally agree with it!
u must be an smrt cyber agent. lol
hahah actually i dun live in singapore;) but i'm a smrt fan!
i really dont understand the logic.. they introduced small waiting timings for lunch hour, but most of us will be taking the mrt either in the morning or evening. who gets teh advantage of lunch hour express? they should rather increase the frequency during peak hours.
and waiting at jurong east in the morning, you will always have to see a DO NOT BOARD train in between two trains that can be boarded. whats the use in running train that cannot board ppl during peak hour? and that too every alternative train!!
i have family in singapore so i go to singapore once a year.. last time i was there and took mrt during peak hours the waiting time was like 2 min or less... (maybe i was lucky or something). of course it was very crowded and there were a lot of people waiting for the train, but i think that's normal in every city with a good subway system. here in rotterdam (the netherlands) they have not a very good subway system so during peak hours it isn't crowded... and the average waiting time during peak is like 5-6 minutes
