last time when take train from bishan to city hall if no seats i will try to stand at the doors where they usually dont open so when reach city hall the door open i can get out asap
Most of the time, I sit/stand at the first and last cars of the train. If the train just arrived at the platform and I am going up the escalator, I will be at the middle cars of the train.

yes, not forgetting that usually if i can remember i will try to stand at the door which is nearest to the escalator so i can get out fast. Serangoon NEL station also made a newer flight of stairs at one end of the platform(which makes it easier to get out) so i like to go to the area of the train which is closest to that flight of stairs/escalators also
I will stand, and WILL stand if my train rides about 3->6 stations. But not 20+ stations coz that will let me stand for about 1 hour unless peak hour, then i rather stand.

I love to stand at the end of the train(facing the side to go to my direction(eg. HBF ->PGL) then I will stand at the part facing up.) if I catch the NEL.
i usually go at the end of the train.
For mi, I would sit at the 1st carriage of the train coz its much quieter (for C151s), but for C651s & C751Bs, i like to sit at middle-back of the carriage coz i like to hear the accleration/deaccleration sounds of em.. If i stand, i would stand near the doors which arent using.
for me..
i alway stand at the middle of 3rd and 4th cabin..
wanna know why?? Because, it the nearest to Lifts..
but if i from Lakeside to Paya Lebar (where the lift at paya lebar is located at the last cabin towards PR) i will stand at the last cabin..
but for my brother.. very simple..
got seat, he will sit, but no seat, he will stand.. haha
I don't like to stand right in front of the doors - there's nothing to hold on to, and I don't like to block the door when people are trying to alight/board.
I also don't like to stand at the 'joints' of the train. It's very cold and windy there... and there's no scenery to watch.
