there are 3 types of trains.
let's start with the easily distinguishable one, the C651s.
all C651s are of a white exterior. very nice motor sound especially when 1st carriage leaves station or when entering a station, the 3rd carriage enters and the sound is truly orgasmic. carriage numbers are of a X2XX sequence.
C751s. their carriage number are of a X3XX sequence. new new in 2001?
C151s are your first trains that served singapore in 1987 onwards... now refurbished(and having less seats and in 10, standing area), the carriage numbers are X0XX and X1XX.
just listen to the motor sounds, can differentiate already.

Might also possibly be a defective train being moved aside for fixing or haulage, as with the maintenance vehicle incident some time back.
as above. the train did not overshot the station under normal operating circumstances.

thanks, sinicker and willischong, i understand which is which already. i usually differentiate by the motor sounds they make especially for the 2 older type of trains.(dont know if its just me but i'd always felt more comfortable with the C151 sounds). and usually i will be happy if i am able to catch the a C751 train
yes the C151 are refurbished already and the train even change colour right(resembles C751 color in some parts?)?
C151s has a silver door frame from the inside and the outside of the doors. In the door's inside, there're silver railings that run down beside the rubber strips. The colours of the seats are red, blue and green
pardon me but i thought C151 have orange instead of red seats?
sorry to have gone totally out of topic

You didn't go out of topic. Anyway C151s had orange seats before refurbishment.

After refurb:

all are refurbished and look like C751 already.
paying more attention to the door frames or the front/rear features of the train such as the format of the run number display (LED for C751/651 & old-dial-type for C151), then can distinguish which train it is.
interior also has its differences.
in short, there are many ways to differentiate them. but the commonfolk will not know all this. a train is just a train to them.
direct linking not allowed? i dont see a picture...

does anyone feel the two stations look skeletal?
like two very low budget stations.

Defective train overrun JKN.
Workers at JKN platform both ends.
I got down from Joo Koon and took some pics. The train is C651 223/224.
I think they should extend more then they open the line lol.

What line?

From JKN to tuas that part. Maybe extend more then start the extension to JKN lol.
In the past, Pasir Ris MRT Station also had this problem as where by the train over run to the end of the eastern bound track.
why overrun? anyone can explain?

it is obvious it will be extended. look at the yellow flag on side of track that shows the distance of track left on your next visit to the far west.

- C151s has a silver door frame from the inside and the outside of the doors. In the door's inside, there're silver railings that run down beside the rubber strips. The colours of the seats are red, blue and green, while C751Bs are pink, blue, and bluegreen. In C151s the seats nearer to the doors are darker coloured. In some trains the middle portion of the car has seats removed. The windows have a bluish tint.
- C651s has differences which is the most noticable. The outside is white and red only. The window frames on the doors are thicker on the inside, and grey from the inside (not silver). The doors' rubber strips are also thicker. The walls has different colours instead of just white depending on which car you're on. The colours of the chairs correspond to the walls' colours. They're orange, blue and green. The windows have a greenish tint, too.
- C751Bs are similar to C151s. The front of the train is inclined, not flat. Also, the railings beside the rubber strips on the doors are white, like its' window frames. From the outside the door window frames are black. The windows has the same tone in the train.
Also on C651s, there is a long black rubber mat on the floor beside every train doors, and these are not found on the C151s and 751s. Correct me if wrong.
Has anyone seen or encounted trains overrun Marina Bay, and also Yishun, Choa Chu Kang (before Woodlands extension opened)?
I think i remembering seeing trains overrun at Pasir Ris and Boon Lay, there were like just sitting there..
Marina Bay is underground, how to tell a train which is overrun? by the direction its going?

If you see 2 red rights beyond the stn then you'll know it's a train.

Saw a C751B beyond PSR too last yr. Maybe we saw the same train on that day
It did not overrun the station. It was parked there to allow trains coming into Joo Koon station during peak hours. And yes, it is a defective train. Not to worry too much.
