i have always wanted to ask this.
consider this scenario: if i tap my card and enter station A then take the train for joy ride blah blah then reach station B but never exit station then i take train back to station A and tap card and exit. is it chargeable? if so, how much will they charge?? as in they can't possibly tell to which station i took till right?
or how about the scenario where i tap into station A and immediately U-turn and tap card and exit without taking the train at all.
i know this question sounds damn bo liao like i have alot of time like that but just wanted to know out of curiosity sake. and also cos of recent news about passing goods over the turnstiles.
Hi preservedorange,
For scenario 1, when you travel on the MRT/LRT, you must complete your trip within the allowed time. The time limit is as follows:
Exit 1-2 stations away = 20 mins
Exit 5-9 stations away = 40 mins
Exit 10-15 stations away = 75 mins
Exit 16-24 stations away = 100 mins
Exit over 24 stations away = 120 mins
If you exceeded the time limit, your ticket will be rejected. You have to go to the Passenger Service Centre and pay an administrative charge of $2 for your ticket to be upgraded.
For scenario 2, the minimum fare will be deducted when you tap out. If you change your mind after you have tapped in, go to the Passenger Service Centre. Your journey will be cancelled and the staff will let you out.
fyi, there's a thread to post your questions regarding MRT/LRT here..
