THE elevated train service that links Changi Airport's three terminals broke down on Friday morning stranding passengers about 20 m above the ground.
Some panicked travellers resorted to pounding on the windows of the Skytrain to get the attention of Changi officials, who said the system did not return to normal for 50 minutes.
Ms Anita Ariffin, who was in one of at least two trains stranded on the track, tried calling emergency crews.
'But it was hard to talk when everyone was shouting and knocking,' she said.
Airport officials said the Skytrain broke down at 10.55am due to a technical fault. The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) could not say how many trains or passengers were marooned. Full service did not resume until about 11.45am.
A Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore spokesman said shuttle buses were deployed to transfer people between the three terminals.
No departing flight had to be delayed because of the service breakdown, the spokesman added.
