No Announcements?

  Just now I was on 095/096 Northbound. The train has no announcements at all (including the door closing)! What's happening?

  some technical fault with the announcement system perhaps..

  so did the TO did manual announcements..

  I took a 045/046 also with the same situation. When the train turned back at Marina Bay, the announcements came back.

  we shall make use of this topic to post trains dat we took w/o announcements or the announcements are quite soft to hear..

  btw tamago, u happen to have any train announcements..

  around october, i was on a lunchtime express train that just came from ulu pandan depot. i boarded from buona vista. the c651 had no announcements at all so when the door closes, you wouldnt really know it until you hear the doors closing. pretty cool though, that was my first and only time boarding a train w/o announcements

  Perhaps, SMRT wants to put Juanita's voice back? Lolz.

  I really hope that they will use her voice instead of that sweet voice with awkward accent

  i also prefer trains w/o annoncements cuz is more quiet.... just that red light flickering will do...in refurb.. i hate listening to multi lingual announcements cuz too irritating...

  i've heard 005/006 with announcements, but without the "please mind the platform gap" announcements at some underground stations. TO was probably using CM mode so i think the TO made manual announcements

  i took 053/054 recently, system under test....for the info system, causing all next stop announcements gone plus those terriorists announcement....

  boarded 037/038 from Tampines till Bugis & noted that there wasn't any announcements..

  however, when I boarded 037/038 from Simei till Tampines there were announcements..

  on last monday, i boarded 351/352 at Yishun twds Raffles Place after it turned around. only got the Doors Closing announcements. From Yishun to Khatib, no announcement. at Khatib, also the Doors Closing announcement, and nothing else. during the trip to YCK, around the Yishun Ave 1/2 / Lentor Ave that junction, then suddenly came out the announcement: Yishun. after about 10 seconds, this came out as spoken by the TO:

  'Attention all passengers, attention all passengers. Sorry for the incorrect announcements. Sorry for the incorrect announcements. The next station you are approaching to is Yio Chu Kang Station. The next station you are approaching to is Yio Chu Kang Station.'

  the same thing was repeated again after 5-10 seconds.

  when it reached Yio Chu Kang, turned out to be like this. The TO said:

  'Yio Chu Kang.........................................................Yio Chu Kang...........................................Yio Chu Kang................................................Yio Chu Kang'.

  after Yio Chu Kang, everything resumed to normal. and fyi, the train is operating in CM mode on that morning due to the rain.

  a few of the NEL trains, the announcements sound really wierd. not that im picking or what, but when the announcements are played, it sounds like people are pressing on the speaker cones of ALL the speakers in the train, makes this really muffled noise we can hardly make out.

  so far what I've experienced was, its either the announcements were super loud or too soft..

  There was this train, which is 202/203, it has no announcements but have door closing announcement. The TO says out the stations. I have a recording of it at my handphone and a long recording of the broken announcement train.

  I dunno why the TO need to say the 'Please mind the platform gap' phrase. And it was raining that time, so it was on CM mode. When approaching CCK interchange, there was a jerk when entering the station.

  pardon me, but i feel the announcements only make us look dumber.

  it only makes ppl more determined to run for the train.
  
  as you know, perseverance is in all of us after a rigorous education system with many tests/exams yearly(want to say monthly also can).

  usually its just the system not working for a while. while i was a little alarmed the first time i was in a train with no announcements, later on i realise it is also good because quieter like someone else here said

  that was like during the time where the mrt first started ?? when door closing the bell sound comes from the train instead of the announcement recording(sometimes they still use it)

  the old announcement (juanita melson's) was perfect... the sound wasn't annoying. I hope they will put her voice back... I think trains should have announcements for the tourists. I also love to listen to the announcement otherwise it is so quiet hehe
