i tink there shldn't be a prob if it's just a quick sip fr our mineral water bottle. have done tt many times before on the train and nobody came to warn me.
the "no drinks and food" more strictly enforced when it comes to da bao stuff, like snacks wif wrappers tt can be thrown onto the floor... or drinks from macs... tt kind...
what to do, we can't be trusted to not throw our rubbish on the floor.
also imagine, the smell on the train or bus (an air con enclosed space) if we were to be allowed to eat. it wldn't be very pleasant.

i always see people bring bubble tea in a plastic bag on train, why can't they wait till they reach their destination then buy?

Sometimes because this specific place got better food mah. Example, there is a stall that sells chicken rice in Pasir Ris which I like very much. But I wasn't hungry at that moment, so, I'd have it take away, and bring it back to my home, which is faraway from Pasir Ris! Get the point? -
