Saw these people on City Hall eastbound during peak hours for the past week. Observed them and what I noticed was that they informed passengers to move to less crowded areas or wait for next train. Haven't see them take on the role of train-pushers yet...
performing mime show ?
Anyway extremely crowded MRT trains in Singapore can be attributed to poor scheduling by SMRT. E.g. at City Hall, southbound train arrives but east bound train leaves before passengers can transfer. Then a late crowded east-bound train results in two train-load of passengers from south-bound squeezing into an east-bound train.

You can't always say its due to poor scheduling. What if the passengers themselves delay the train? You get what I mean...
Best way would be the east/west bound (whichever side) leaves before the SB ppl come crashing with the ppl with the E/W bound ppl and then sometime next E/W bound train quite empty.. Got one time I kena the SB ppl rushing to board my EWL train then the door close right infront of them. You see their 'walau knn' face feel beri happy :B <3 that TO.
finally
looking at the youtube video... they scream dono what before they push the commuters in....
what will singapore one shout? cant be in all four languages right!
my bet is...
"GO INSIDEEE RAHHHHHH!!!!~!~!~" -push push push-

Its LTA/PWD/MRTC's poor planning. The whole MRT system (including NEL) is over utilised. They failed to realise that the actual number of passengers is higher than the projected ones (ie they dint give any extra allowances). Thats why you get a 6 car train instead of an 8 car train, trains which stop every station instead of having clear distinction between local and express trains. This however would mean that the bus can still compete with the train.

worse still, the 2 MRT projects coming up have only 3-car trains. CCL and DTL
+ bus rationalisation

agreed..... they plan only on theoretical figures like 1920 per train when you know it'll be hell to pack people like that here!
1920 per train!!!!
now i see at most 200 per carriage, 1200 per train lor.
