SMRT counters Red Bull's Night Race allegations!
In motor racing,
SMRT has responded to allegations that its trains were the reason behind Red Bull F1 team driver, Mark Webber, retiring from the Singapore Grand Prix.
Last week, Red Bull Team boss Christian Horner told Britain's Autosport magazine that it appeared a sudden electrical surge from a passing train at Turn 13 interfered with Webber's gear-box.
In its response to a query from 938LIVE, an SMRT spokesperson yesterday said, there's no MRT track beneath Turn 13 which was at the junction of Anderson Bridge and Esplanade Drive.
She said the nearest MRT tunnel is about 200 metres away, with a depth of about 10 metres.
In addition, the spokesperson says train wheels and running rails are made of metal and therefore do not generate static electricity charges during train operations.

Red Bull lays SMRT allegation to rest!
In Formula 1 news,
Red Bull Racing wants to draw a line under Mark Webber's retirement from the Singapore Grand Prix.
In a statement released yesterday, Team Principal Christian Horner said the team have yet to establish beyond doubt the cause of the problem and a strong magnetic field is one of the possible theories.
And he stressed that the incident is part and parcel of racing and should not detract from what was a fantastic weekend for Formula 1’s first ever night race.
Horner caused a stir when he claimed to Autosport magazine in England that a sudden electrical surge from a passing MRT train at Turn 13 interfered with Webber's gear-box.
And SMRT replied 2 days ago stating the absence of an MRT track at that specific location, and that Singapore's train wheels and running rails are made of metal and therefore do not generate static electricity charges during train operations. -938Live
