This is apparently confirmed that 4th generation of train as additional sets of train to serve the future NSL and EWL extension will be called as C151A.
This means that C951 will be only DTL train while C151A as NSL/EWL train.
You can check out the source from here.
O: C151A... What will the set numbers be? 401~4++?
Should get more of those C651 train.. Hope this C151 don't have same motor sound as the current ones... Already got 66, already tripled of C751B and C651.
Thanks for the valuable info~
I wonder what's the lifespan of trains.
one question. will this batch of new C151A EMU have the IGBT-VVVF technology? if yes, that will be nice. i will be hoping to hear the sound soon...

More likely to use 4xxx series.

C751B EMUs already use IGBT-VVVF traction system,
and IGBT-VVVF is now a widely adopted equipment so the new trains do have it.

The GTO-VVVF inverter which the C651s uses is way outdated as compared to the IGBT-VVVF used in newer trains.

Guess so. Since there are 17 to be bought, the numbers range 401 - 434. Unlikely to continue from 133 - 166 despite being contract C151A.
I wonder how they look like.
when will smrt receive the trains?
Not so soon bah.

it's not 4xxx, it's x4xx
Yeah a X4XX series would be cool to see...
3401-1401-2401-2402-1402-3402
Then it will be easy to put under the naming system of Series 400. Not bad.
Actually 30 years for a train, might be a little short, but for technological advances... Its about that age that it gets outdated. Not to compare with emission vehicles such as cars and buses.

Oops! Did not check my typed number properly.
It's confirmed that total 22 C151A train will be purchased and deployed on NSL / EWL in end-May 2011.
Any idea whut will it look like for now?

It's too early to say... The tender is not closed yet. Just wait until LTA is awarding to the best candidate who will be designing and manufacturing the train, then we will know the design of new train.

Hope it'll look something different from those Alstom trains.. I didn't like their design at all. The trains on the NSL and EWL now are good.. But still I hope it'll look different from the current trains..
