SMRT to increase train trips during F1 week
SINGAPORE: To cope with the anticipated increase in ridership due
to the road closures before and after the Formula 1 night race, a total
of 36 train trips will be added on the north, east and westbound
schedules in the evenings from September 23 to 25, and on September 29.
SMRT said commuters can expect a shorter waiting time of up to 1.5 minutes.
On race days, from September 26 to 28, another 960 train trips will be
introduced on both the North-South and East-West Lines from noon,
shortening commuters waiting time.
To cater to people who are out late after the races, SMRT is extending train operating hours till 1.30am.
SMRT said commuters can also look forward to more frequent train arrivals on weekday mornings and evenings from next month.
It will release more information once the additional train trips are finalised. - 938LIVE/vm
