fire extinguisher in train are kept in a cabinet beside a 2 seat area. I remember it once is kept inside a transparant glass door and advise people to break glass in case of emergency
But i notice most train now , fire extinguisher is kept inside the same cabinet but no glass door , it is change into a metal door , with a fire extinguisher logo above it , and the door is locked with 2 keyhole.
I wonder in case of emergency, how people can gain acess to the extinguisher. Can anyone enlighten me ?
for show...
feedback this question to SMRT & see what will be their reply..
It is not true, the fire extinguisher is stored in a cabinet with a pull sign.....dun anyhow talk
so meaning its not locked after all lah..
was thinking, if it were to be locked then why bother to have the extinguisher there in the 1st place..
thought there's a "break in case of emergency" key holder 1?

Wow! I guess to prevent abuse, theft, misuse, the metal door can only be open by the train driver, who holds one key, and the station master, who holds the other key, and they must open it together, like safe deposit boxes.
I hope you are enlightened now.
Actually, I've also noticed this odd trend. As trains get newer, the extinguisher gets more and more "protected"
I'm guessing that in an emergency, we would just run instead of using it
to some, it just an extinguisher but to others, it may be a money making profit..
which MRT line you talking abt?
my guess is the NEL..

have to pull the glass cover out then can retrieve the fire entinguisher
Put for fun and display one lah.. You got see MRT catch fire before ah..
SIEMENS EMU: Just pull the glass ( real glass hor, not plastic ) cover. But you have to use a little bit of strength coz the rubber seal sibey strong. So no point kick the glass.
KHI EMU: Pull. Or Kick hard at the plastic cover. Sure break. And the rubber seal not as strong as the siemens EMU.
KNS EMU: Same way to pull out as the KHI EMU.
ROTEM: Pull the cover. Its very easy as ABC or come to this forum to ask stupiG question.
