New signs posted on priority seats in trains to encourage courtesy
SINGAPORE : Passengers travelling on SMRT trains will now see signs encouraging them to be more courteous.
The latest additions in the trains are posted on "priority seats".
They have been put up by public transport operator SMRT, asking commuters to give up these seats to other passengers with special needs.
It is part of the company’s annual month—long nation—wide "Courtesy and Safety Programme". — CNA/ms

I don't like it. people have the idea that if you don't sit in a priority seat, you don't have to give up your seat to someone in need. Or they act blur. Like this morning, I took the train from the terminal. From my seat, I could see 6 of the priorty seats. All 6 seats occupied by people below 25. There were plenty of other available seats since this was the terminal but die die, they want to sit in the priority seat. Then as the train passed several stops and started to fill, they all suddenly soo sleepy and shut their eyes so tight.

Ya lah, that's my point - its makes no difference! Last time, with 2 signs at each carriage, people just ignore. Then some bright spark wrote in the ST about this priority seating and said perhaps communters don't know as the pix and signage are so small. C'mon lah, SMRT don't know Singaporeans attitude? They think 4 priority seats each carriage with bigger signage going to make a difference? p.s. I say Singaporeans in a very generic term as I see ang mohs and Asians of other nationalities doing the same thing too. -
are they treating trains as SIA planes? priority seats, priority queues, priority lines, priority
i don't see a need in changing the names. it doesn't mean more people are going to give up their seats. i rather they spend more time thinking of other (in case this is high priority too) high priority things.

They might as well paste the sticker on the seat.

No use, many pple still sit there like stone....i felt should folloe japan way of saying that the seats is for disabled....sick....paralysed....sg pple so superstitious will not dare to seat there later kena same treatment

even put the sign big big so the most pa jiao person can see i dun think attitudes will change.

people will still kam bin with newspaper, pretend to sleep, so and so.. so what if the sign cover the whole roof ontop of the seats. its useless

i did tt before on an rather empty train but gave it up to ah mah at next stop :D

actually i find that its okay to sit on a priority seat, as long as you see someone in need, you will have to give up the seat. but it's just named priority cuz it's nearer to the door.
same rule goes for basically ALL the seats in the train. that's why i always stand and sit if it's quite empty.
