the new south-bound platform for Bishan [NS17 / CC15] opens this sunday 27 july 2008 (sunday). from then onwards, "passengers who are continuing their journey on the circle line, please alight on the left........ Bishan Interchange.....Please mind the gap."
New Bishan MRT southbound platform to open on Sunday
The new south-bound platform of the Bishan MRT Station will start operating from Sunday.
The Land Transport Authority says the new platform is fully air-conditioned as it is below ground level and does not receive any natural ventilation.
At present, the trains heading south towards the city as well as north-bound trains share the same platform.
LTA anticipates that the existing platform will no longer have sufficient capacity to cope with increased ridership, particularly when Stage 3 of the Circle Line opens in the middle of next year. --938Live
Haha, technically, Bishan is at ground level.

Yes. Must cross using station concourse.
The old Bishan platform B walks officially into history today. For the next few weeks (or months?) this platform will be boarded up with a wall. Then the northbound platform will have PSDs and A/C installed gradually.
head to head
Bishan & Braddell southbound
They should have built a north-bound platform as well (on the other side) then close the old platform to be refurbished. Then the old platform will be used for alighting passengers only aka Spanish solution to deal with the future Circle Line crowds. Something like Lo Wu MTR station only the opposite. Plus it makes the station look more "balanced".

Ang Mo Kio, Bishan, Braddell
My train passed Bishan today south-bound for City Hall.
Now Bishan station looks like the Shibuya counterpart for the Yamanote Line in Tokyo.
Platform A
*ding dong* Bishan... Bishan...
Platform B
*ding dong* Bishan... Bishan... Doors open on the left. Please mind the platform gap.
*sob* will miss the old layout.
the new one sure looks interesting.. but hell yeah, id miss the old one. =(
hopefully they replace the station PA system too.. those speakers on the ceiling on concourse level (the level at whcih u get out and walk to j8) are already rotten. ffs, most of them dont even have speaker cones anymore to start with..
Yeah. Btw, they still announce the please stand behind the yellow line announcement for platform A at platform B. Makes people confused especially for those who cant see the plasma screen.
