I don't think women want it! LOL... They cannot board the train with their husbands / boyfriends / father / brother. -_-" .... This train only applies to single women i guess or a group of female friends. Ultimately, it pushes the rest of the cabins to their brim out of nowhere. Imagine sacrficing 1 cabin out of 6 for women only.

For the elderly, don't we have the priority seats? With only 6 cars per train, I doubt there is gonna be any ladies/children cabin. Unless they decided to extend the station length of course.

Ladies only cabin is indeed the trend in major cities worldwide. I am quite shocked that many you guys do not know about it. Tokyo and indeed major Japan subway/subway and suburban services have this Ladies' Car in the morning peak, some in the evening peak as well. Its feasibility here in Singapore, however, would be at doubt because of the lesser amount of train cars (6 compared to Japan's 8/10/11/12/14/16) and the difference in society culture. In selected JR night rapid and Express/Superexpress trains, there are female only reserved seats. A female passenger just need to tell the ticket attendant at a station that she wants to take the female seat and it can be done. The seats are nothing special (I sat on to try when the train ended its service) but they are grouped near the staff cabin and have at least four or more seats of the same type together. Not to worry that husbands and wives cannot get on the train together; the other carriages are not male only, right? Children only cabin, I don't think its a feasible idea as well, how can children take care of themselves, as in young ones. They would end up pressing the emergency buttons every stop.

Ladies only cabin will not be feasible in Singapore. What will other countries think of us if this is implemented? That men and women cannot co-exist in a train together? That's why we must seperate them?

if pervs film women on a train, and we should have a ladies only cabin on the mrt, then isnt it the same to say that men shall film women on buses too so a partition should be built in the middle of the bus, the women board thru the front, and the males thru the back door?

maybe in japan yes, where they are hghly conservative but i dun believe we as a general public follow such conservatie rules rigth?
the last thing we want on a busy morning where we are alredy running late, is to have to wait for anoyther train just cause ur a male, and the female cabin is so empty but the rest are full, making u unable to board. i dont think we wnat that, do we?

Maybe not as general public. But the Japanese do that, not because they are conservative, but there are rising cases of female passengers getting molested! Yes Singapore may not be as worse, not now, so there is no hurry to implement this. But not never do it, someday, there will be a need to do so.

but till then, that day where the molestaton case gets too high, it will then be feasilbe to impelmnt this thing. howver, not nw as its practically useless if implemented in the currnt system
i agree that an elderly cabin would be aa muh better idea. no need ot worry that the elderyly have not seats.

Mine was worse.. I was recording the sound of the motor when accelerating/braking then as you know, I need not press a lot of buttons but just hold the phone up so the sounds can be recorded right? And.... yea..

simple..different countries have different mindset..even if people do, we dont have to follow..im satisfied with what we have for the trains now..fair enough, there is always room for improvement..its up to SMRT to decide
