actually i can say that the pace of construction is going quite fast...though cannot end by end of this year, but could be able to start operation by Q2 2011.
A small portion of the new platform can be seen now!
The platform is higher currently
Pictures of updates today:

to be honest nobody knows yet. seems no pictures are released. my guess is that it will look very much like an extension of the same station.

Since last wk & 2nd lvl(main stucture) of new site almost completed
Definitely excited about the track.
The progress is very fast , and the extension is taking shape.
Have Pros and Cons about the extension of platform lor
During the Morning peak hour, the crowd will be spread on both sides of platform (East-Bound Train) ... Very jialat lor the morning peak hour.
I always go Boon Lay from either Jurong East/Bukit Batok, which means i have to go to the concourse to transfer to west bound train..
Who know when does the plaforms and stations build??? I already been waiting so long..

Last I recalled, they haven't created instant concrete and they don't speed up projects because of the whining of 1 person.

Don't tell me they build exactly the same as the current..

No , it is a train going Pasir Ris.

Possible... because the track are high (known as Pasir Ris bound)
i wonder how the trains will be next time...?? Old platform opens only for Boon Lay side..New opens for Pasir Ris side?? or will there be an indication that the train will be stopping at the new platform, so that people going to Boon Lay can take the alternate trains..

it is
notice Eastbound track height is the same as new track height!
Really could use some help on my doubt here
"imagine i'm at Bukit Batok heading to Boon Lay and i'm waiting for train. How would i know if the train is heading to the new platform of the current platform at Jurong East?"

Maybe the new platform is only used on peak-hours.
I think after the JEMP is completed, the movement is gonna be more messy..

There would probably information around the stations, based on audio and visual equipment. The RATIS could show the arrival platform based on colour and numbers, and announcements could forewarn commuters in case they need to access their next platform (to Joo Koon) via the concourse.
This is done in Sheung Shui MTR station for trains going to either Lo Wu or Lok Ma Chau with TVs showing the destination colour and announcements, and Saphan Taksin BTS station for trains going to Wongwian Yai or National Stadium with TVs showing the destination colour and coloured platform line arrows as the station operates on a single track.

I see, so what is the difference between this and the former Changi Airport direct on BNL - BDK?

Last time, the RATIS only showed the destination station and terminal number, on top of other annoying announcements.
Announcements are played before the train enters the station. The TV above every individual door (that's 11 x 5 + 1 x 2 = 57 TV screens) will then flash the colour designated to that terminal - Green for Lok Ma Chau and Blue for Lo Wu. If you forget, hey geuss what? At the sides of the TV, there are also coloured plates. Hence you just match the colour of the plate to the colour of the TV to get your train's destination. Announcements and scrolling texts are also played and shown in the train.
Single track? No problem. Bangkok's BTS adjusts the stopping line for each train going towards either Wongwian Yai or National Stadium to stop at either ends of the platform. Green for National Stadium, and Purple for Wongwian Yai. TVs are installed at the 2 black rectangles above.
They've also incorporated the direction of travel along the entire station length. On top of that, you can check the destination of the train from the EDS installed at the front and sides of the train.
Of course, I will have no say in incorporating a new system, and they might just follow what they did for the Changi Airport branch.
Anyone know whats meaning of "Stick no bill" at Jurong East?
