What will happen? There will be no train service between Jurong East and Bukit Batok Stations. Commuters travelling between the affected route will need to alight at the affected station and board the free shuttle bus service that will ply between the two stations. For more info on the shuttle bus service, please look below
What are the affected stations? Other than Jurong East and Bukit Batok Stations, the other affected stations are Choa Chu Kang and Bukit Gombak. Other than these stations, travel on other parts of the MRT system is not affected.
How are these stations affected? Alternate North-bound trains on the North-South Line will terminate its service at Choa Chu Kang Station.
North-bound commuters travelling towards Jurong East Station may need to detrain at Choa Chu Kang Station and board the next train bound for Bukit Batok station. When commuters arrive at Bukit Batok Station, they will need to exit the station and continue their journey to Jurong East on the shuttle bus service provided.
South-bound commuters will need to take the shuttle bus service from Jurong East Station to Bukit Batok and board the train from Bukit Batok Station.
Trains will be travelling at a slower speed between Choa Chu Kang and Bukit Gombak Stations. Commuters travelling through these affected stations may experience longer journey times due to longer headways.
Do pay attention to service announcements and look out for directional signs when travelling in the MRT network during the above mentioned weekend.
While we have made considerable effort to provide a smooth journey, inconveniences and longer travelling time are unavoidable. We seek all commuters’ understanding. Why is there no bus bridging service linking Jurong East and Choa Chu Kang Stations? To ferry the large number of commuters between Jurong East and Choa Chu Kang by bus will result in even longer travelling time. After careful consideration, SMRT and LTA concluded that train services, with its larger capacity and being less subject to weather or traffic conditions, would be the most convenient mode.
Will train frequency be affected? For stations that are directly or indirectly affected by this work, trains will travel at a slower speed. However, train service in the rest of the stations will not be affected.
Which alternative train route can commuters travel on to get to Jurong East Station? Commuters can use the East-West line to reach Jurong East Station while avoiding the Jurong East to Bukit Batok stretch. For example, if you are travelling from Ang Mo Kio to Jurong East station, it is advisable to board the South bound train and transfer at City Hall or Raffles Place Station to board the West bound train.
How will train service be affected after the upgrading works? For the next few days after the upgrading works, trains will run at a slower speed at the affected stretch.
Where are the pickup and alighting points for the bus shuttle service? Commuters can follow the directional signs from the station to the pickup points. SMRT staff will be stationed along the way to guide commuters.
For the bus shuttle service, there will be a sheltered waiting area at all the pick up points for the bus.
Please see the table below and map for the pickup and alighting points at both Bukit Batok and Jurong East Stations.Location Pick up Point Alighting Point Bukit Batok Bukit Batok Interchange Bukit Batok Interchange Jurong East Station At the cul-de-sac at Jurong East Street 13 At the cul-de-sac at Jurong East Street 13

Lakeside today is super ultra confused for the commuters. One staff almost fell out with a commuter when asking for directions... >.<
The confusion arises is solely because of the shared platform -
Platform A - Eastbound
Towards Jurong East OR Towards Joo Koon
Platform B - Westbound - Solely towards Jurong East
Passengers also dunno why SMRT can't provide a full through train service from Joo Koon all the way till Jurong East... many heated arguements in the station... :(
Jurong East - Lakeside Shuttle train (Trainset 015 / 016)
Originally posted by lohkinwah:i personally took 1 of the earliest train, ard 6.10am when i reach jurong east.the shuttle bus driver missed the entry into AYE, n asked the passengers anyone know the way to clementi.in the early hours, quite alot pple alrdy
I rode TIB1105H at 7 am ytd and the driver got lost. Ended up using Service 183 route.
Trains running back to JE using the Joo Koon direction track and running back to Lakeside using the PSR direction track had to travel at RM (15 km/h) due to the track signalling where the trains cannot travel the wrong direction (e.g travelling to Lakeside using the Pasir Ris direction track).
Well, for the staff deployed. Do note that not all are full-time and some of them are part-time (those who are in white shirts which does not belong to SMRT or LTA in particular.)
Just to make it clear to folks who are around and experiencing the snail speed.
RM Mode, mode maximum safe speed (MSS) is 19 km/h.
Although you can say its 18 km/h because its safe to go at that speed and speedometers do not come in 1 km/h notches.

you see e Q&A...
SMRT wants to do it alone...
With more helping hands, everything impossible could be overcome.

They only used the cross-over after Lakeside, not the one before Boon Lay.

anyway, the MRT shuttle bus is "FREE", lets dun complain. I almost get killed by the MRT shuttle bus yesterday. The bus did not brake at the X-Link hump, the passengers in the bus went flying up and down

During NDP also like that.
At YOG venues also like that, YOG the SSS queues are for the security screening.
But the SMRT S queues are bigger than that.
But for these few days, SBS benefits, many live around Jurong going to Clementi, may take bus 99 or 154... Going to Jurong East, there's 98M/98.
The lianhe zaobao said, bus 99 very packed.
can anyone comfirm that all staris has been deactivated for JeMP..Cause i dont remember seeing it when i took the trains....

It should be confirmed... When I took any trains STARIS not operation.
I think on 18-19 sept, the affected commuters will be lesser than that of this weekends.
Cause as you see this weekend, so many people wanting to go JE from Clementi and from Clementi to Boon Lay or Lakeside
