The existing CDB cannot cope with current and future congestions worsened by too many MRT lines ending on existing congested Raffles/Shenton area. Need to increase the CBD area to embrace Rochor/Beach Road/Kallang precincts to lessen congestions and reduce ERP expenses.
The above-mentioned was posted to websites in Jan 08 following the announcement of new MRT lines to end at existing Raffles/Marina MRT.
Only now it was realized there is such a urgent need to prevent such worsening of congestions in existing CBD. Where are our city planners and what is the use of paying millions of salaries to top people if they cannot pre-plan such decentralization of existing congested CBD sometime ago. If not for this suggestion in Jan 08, probably ERP costs would exceed $20 per work day for average worker in CBD by 2012.
