SBST NEL can purchase alstom when they need to purchase new trains since they already have alstom. But for SMRT they can never purchase alstom for EWL/NSL as alstom track and signal system is totally from the EWL/NSL's current kawasaki/siemens system. -

Alstom does not only produce automatic trains, Alstom has and still is producing trains which are compaitable for other systems.
