What do you think a refurbished C651 will look like? In my opinion, I do agree that the trains should be refurbished in 2010. I feel that the trains should NOT be painted black. They look quite nice will its current painting. After all, the white exterior have marked a history in in our MRT since 1987. As for the interior, I feel that the unique colour of the walls and door panels should remain. The same goes for the colour of the seats. Th unique design of the floor should remain too.

White paint means train gets dirty easier. Even when C651 uses stainless steel bodies.
With a stainless steel body, spraying of water can easily get rid of the dirt. By the way, what do you think it should look like?

Refurbishment of C651 will take place only in about FIVE years or so, depending on the management. Currently, the Mid-Life Upgrade is only for C151 KHI trains. The people there want to change all to black, and this includes your C651, if it gets its upgrade. (Personally, I prefer black)
Also, the black, red, and grey colours are due to STICKERS and NOT PAINT.

Obviously it wouldn't look nice to have all trains black and only the C651s white. Black for me too.
I feel that having 19 Siemens C651 white will make them look unique and trains will not look so bored with black and white types.
TS, ur title very misleading. U the CEO of SMRT huh? Suka suka say Siemens trains due for MLU in 2010. Wait u kena slap left right up down then u know.

trains are for transport. not for your visual treat.
for visual treats, proceed to either art museum or geylang.

It is true that siemens C651 cars will be refurbished in 2010. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siemens_C651_Cars

Unfortunately, I think Manager 433 is right. I asked the guy in charge of rolling stock on Fri when the C651 will kena refurbish, but he said "maybe in the next 5 yrs, depending on management". From their words, I guess they have NO plans for refurbishment for now?
Or maybe they don't want to say out too much until it's confirmed? OK, insiders pls help me check out on this.
By the way, the guy at the 'machine shop' says C151 MLU is hopefully done by end of Sept 08 at the rate of one train per 7-10 days. "The Koreans are working hard..."

You're such an idiot in believing everything from Wikipedia.
Does the SMRT Management update the Wiki page?
Unfortunately, you haven't been here long enough to realise Manager433 is one of the senior members who can provide exact and accurate info.

I can see that they're working damn hard. :D
After all they're lagging behind, due to the intital rate of 1 train/month when the project first started.
Now it is around 2 trains/month, still below the minima of 4 per month required.

man man lai la. cut cost. 1 train per year. should concentrate on building shops in buses and trains instead. boost profits.
Actually, I feel that only the grabpoles and seats layout should be changed if they will ever be refurbished. Everything else is in good condition.

alot of C151 have a very dirty exterior. refurb it to black. it looks fantastic better than the boring white exterior. the motor needs an overhaul. the black exterior is better than the white one as it gets dirty easily. the flooring should be redone. but the top white compartment like parts. i dun like.

The white exterior of a C651 looks nice and that's why you will never see any exterior advertisments on a C651. Exterior advertisments are only used on the C151's white exterior which look boring. At least the old colour of seats (orange-blue-green-green-blue-orage) and the old colour of wall panels (orange-white-green-green-white-orange) should remain.

Both are painted white. How come 1 looks nice and 1 looks boring?

Under pressure from the "tau" to finish the project by 2008. =D
Now only got 30 refurbished trains... inching towards the 50% mark.

Haha, coz 1 use better paint, cleaner than the other one :D
think the siemens could do with the same exterior colour as the CCL sets of black and a red stripe at the bottom?
and the interior flooring should have the same material as that of the 237 set. It is unique and its like a 'sneek peek' to the C751B's flooring design. I remember it to be the only train which had a unique floor design in 1237 and 2237 and the train used to have a very pleasant smell that all other Siemens did not have.
