Its not a matter of getting use to it. It is a matter of unprofessionalism shown by SMRT due to some words of phrases sounding weird and sometimes even pronounced incorrectly. For instance, Yishun was pronounced as "yee-soon" in the new annoucements and "Passenger travelling towards........" sounded the weirdest and most irritating. This is because the new annoucer's voice is too high pitched and therefore unsuitable for in-train annoucements. In fact, most of the annoucements and the "siren" sound irritating actually. Europeans who take a ride on our MRT will therefore think that Singapore is unable to use the English Language properly.

Ya. I hate the siren sound which is so high pitch and irritating to ear. Moreover, the sound is longer than the old one which lengthens the train stopping time at the stations. I can't stand her "Orchard", "Somerset", "Tiong Bahru", "Chinese Garden", "Ang Mo Kio" announcement. Sounds so auntie and act US Accent (Emphasize on R sound). I really hope SMRT can change the current one back to the old announcement. I love Juanita Melson's voice. Her voice is already a local identity for Singapore.

Singapore is a democracy. It takes 1% of idiots to like the new voice to neglect the 99% who hate it to the core. Never mind if the 1% are top bureaucrats of MRTC and the 99% are just Pay-And-Pay commuters.
Does Juanita Melson herself ride the MRT? Curious as to how she feels about her voice being SUPPLANTED by some crap Ah Tiong voice. And more importantly, what does she think about the new voice?
P.S. Don't bother about Europeans. They will be *surprised* to know that we actually speak English. Better than some shitty Americans who can't spell to boot.

Do you learn Japanese? Anyway, it is an easy decision for SMRT to make, weather to have other languages in train. This can be possible for station annoucements but SMRT will still have to be fair on the langages used. If they use Japanese as a bonus for our Japan tourists, it will not be fair to our tourists Korean, Frerch, Germany and so on.

Japanese tourists make up a large part of the tourist arrivals to Singapore annually. Places like Takashimaya and Isetan says it all. -

haha the heart of the matter is that u cannot stop SMRT decisions. jus look at the change of depot controls for SMRT buses on 23 March. its now totally chaos. wrecking more havoc is what SMRT loves to do. now 190 can get amdep control. 173 can go to woodlands control
. there is news that even 176 go to woodlands depot control. -
