Yes. Fare can be paid by their "Yi Ka Tong"(like Ezlink) or purchasing of paper ticket which both costs the same price and the person tearing your ticket will only tear a small portion of your tix (which is called fu juan)
Just did the conversion..RMB2.00 = SGD0.40 only
WAH! 40cents!
REGARDLESS OF DISTANCE & TRANSFERS SOME MORE.
Imagine the crowd.
you should stay in beijing for a much longer period of time

Surprisingly, the crowd for Beijing Subway is not as bad as SG Trains during peak hours in terms of packness but off peak wise there is more people as compared to SG Trains. However, their train really varies.
Line 1/2 uses mainly older trains that has been around for 30 years (since cultural revolution) whereby the tunnel of Line 1/2 are dug by man without machines (China has abundance of human resources). Therefore, when u travel on such line 1/2, you will encounter quite some noise pollution while the other lines are more modern, with the new Line 5 being on par with North East Line standards.
Yes, the fare is just 40 cents (SGD) regardless of transfer and the time that you stay within their subway system. The fare used to be RMB3.00 (60 cents SGD) for one line and transfers can cost up to RMB5 ($1 SGD) but since their Line 5 opened for use, the government wanted to encourage more people to use public transport (instead of buying more cars) so they made a decision to reduce ticket price to RMB 2 (SGD 0.40) regardless of transfers to attract more people to take (Unlike SG where fare just increases year by year when the government is also encouraging more use of public transport).
Their bus is even cheaper as when you use their "Yi Ka Tong", it costs RMB0.40 which is 8 cents (SGD) for a single trip or RMB1 if u pay by cash, irregardless of distance for quite a lot of routes but there is no transfer rebates.
Can only stay there for 2 months as after the 2 months i have to go back to school in SG le.
Hmm what's your standard of education ? You went Beijing for Studies Exchange ?

Sec 4 this year. Not study exchange but more of one way immersion.
not to mention their sadrines pack there during rush hours...
Another interesting to note is that they have the Tunnel TV thing also, one was spotted between Fu Cheng Men and Fu Xing Men outer circular tunnel, but the TV movement quality is not as good as the one in NEL.
