find her and talk to her. it's the same accent and she's not Chinese.

c'mon, the new announcement is fresh and all that..
but if we compare the english, like what many of my media friends mentioned, its just someone paid to announce in a fake singaporean accent.
yea man, but the 950 announcement one though is quite hilarious i must say...

The way the new annoucement pronouced 'Yishun' is quite 'funny' in away. IT said 'E-shun'.
I like the accent by the way.

EWL 044, 209 today, the day of the disruption. Heard more didn't get to check them. I think 232 also has it. But was more focused on getting to work than anything else.

I board this train. The new announcement was ok what... it's just that we're not get used to it... -
overall, I thought the new recordings were a refreshing change. but they should have added the other languages as well. SBST did with NEL, they could too.
I think the lady should not try to pronounce too slowly and succintly. she sounded between a singaporean trying to sound angmor and an angmor trying to sound singaporean
the pace and the style of the previous annoucer still felt less awkward. anyone agrees? -
MRT announcements: Drop the S'pore voice, bring back the British voice
STOMPer Edmund is unhappy with the new, revised female voice-over announcements heard on MRT trains recently. He sent STOMP this email with audio clip this morning (Jan 26):
"Firstly, what was wrong with the previous British-accented ones?
"Secondly, how did SMRT arrive at the conclusion that they should change the announcements? There are no new additions apart from wrong phonics, enunciations and being unable to speak Malay fluently!
"Thirdly, in the face of rising inflationary costs, and transport costs being passed down to consumers, why fix something that was not broken?
"My colleagues and I found the new Singaporean-accented female announcements incorrectly pronouncing words and stations names. Have a listen to the audio clip to see what I mean.
"For example: Buonavista = Bone-navista! And Clementi becomes Clare- menti!
The STOMper feels that visitors to Singapore's MRT system will have a good laugh at our expense.
"To enlighten those who have never lived overseas, we may be discriminated against as poor
English speakers if we can't pronounce words accurately or clearly with proper phonics.
"Worse still, we may be classified as just being unable to grasp the English language.
"This change is detrimental to the image of Singaporeans, and show that we do not carry the qualities of a native English Speaker. I am sure the 'Speak good English' committee would be more than happy to coach the voice-over talent.
"The previous announcements were significantly better, superior in many ways, clear and professional.
"I am shocked that SMRT has pulled a stunt like this! I am sure the voice talent that was hired for the task would fail any advertising voice-over auditions for leading brand commercials from BBDO for instance.
"Even CAAS would not approve her for their announcements at Changi Airport no matter how local she sounds.
"What a terrible shame and mistake this brings."

practically all the 0XX, 1XX kawasaki C151 1986-1989 and 2XX siemens C651 series use the new one..only most of the new kawasakis C761 1999--2001 train no: 0300-035X stil use the oldsomerset and novena sounds very china lady
novena sounds like nowena like chinese pinyin not having v in pinyins

Like just now when i board 053/054...One hear of the old announcement...So soothing to the ear....
