Of course everything has their flaws. It's just how people understand it.Originally posted by sinicker:pro-SMRT as you can be. big, successful organisations still have their flaws.
face it.
3yrs and i see everything. it's disgusting, really.
Right... but may I ask you, is the rank of your forum name here more important, or is your personal moral values more important? Sure if Airbus gets fed up and he makes a fuss out of it, bans me, DO I CARE? At least I've achieved something in my life. I did my best to rebut someone. It doesn't matter if I lose, because I know that my points are valid.Originally posted by 201911:SMRT isn't fantastic in how they maintain the MRT system, but at least its better than alot of other countries. many singaporeans complain bcos they don't know how things are like overseas, so to them SMRT is bad. not siding SMRT or anything, but people should appreciate that at least got an MRT system in the first place.
to Oceane: what u said abt is not wrong, but bear in mind that you're talking to a senior member. if you've been here long enough u will know the kind of troubles between senior members and newcomers, and that it doesnt pay to talk back to a senior member. heard abt the story of xiong chen or the story of SGEMP/ STN? or how tintinspartan keep getting kachiao by the seniors. if u dig the archives u can see the kind of flame wars between newcomers like them and the seniors. so dont talk back to them, its not worth it seriously.
Well, every SMRT train that I sat on, it's sparking clean. You know, many people have complained to STOMP about things that have happened on the MRT. One was a leaking case on a refurbished train; that I understand, it must have been a hole.Originally posted by sbst275:you're comparing apples and oranges alrdy
KTM runs state - state train services, SMRT is running city metro
Another thing, you wanna comparre, is to compare with other cities like HK
These sort of comparison to put it bluntly only just make us to feel we're on top of other developed cities when in reality we are eating other ppl's dust in service standards

HOWEVER, 1 idiot went to take photo of a person with a briefcase, then say that the train was leaking. For one, if you know the train was leaking, why the hell did he went to take photos first? Common sense tells us we would move somewhere else before taking photos. Secondly, his photos don't show anything. It only shows a man with a briefcase, with nothing else. How the hell are we supposed to know if the leaking really happened?
This is my theory. SMRT proclaims itself to have world-class transport, and many people are taking advantage of this to try to PWN SMRT. Of course, some complaints are reasonable, but some are not. I can only say those unreasonable complainers have no other better life than to try to pick on anything they see then complain. Complain and complain. No-lifer? You go decide.
Sure Singapore may be small, and people demand for lesser waiting time. I tell you, even if you reduce the waiting time by 7 mins to 5 mins, after a week or two, people will complain again that it's still too long. In chinese we call this (SGF can't type Chinese so too bad) DE CHUN JIN CHI. It seems like we can never please ourselves.
To me, 7 mins is ok. I don't see a reason why more trains need to be activated during off-peak. Unless commuters want to pay more for firstly, electricity, and secondly, maintanence costs. Then they will complain again that fares are too high.
You get what I mean? Singaporeans are never hard to please. I don't see how extra waiting time of 2 ~ 4 mins can kill you. Even worse, as long as the waiting exceeds 7 mins, by 1 or 2 mins, people complain as if they are going to die.
the way u always reply to people complaining about SMRT sounds very funny. they complain abt SMRT, and then u complain abt how they complain abt SMRT. and then after they see ur posts they will complain that u complain abt they complain abt SMRT.Originally posted by Oceane:Well, every SMRT train that I sat on, it's sparking clean. Well, Only thing to do is to.............Originally posted by Oceane:Friend, just because you founded the Bus forums and the Planes forums doesn't mean you can come here and insult SMRT.
SMRT did poorly for it's buses. We all KNOW THAT.
Trains terminate at Yishun to turnaround to supplement the peak hour crowds at the CBD. If trains DO NOT terminate, you go imagine what happens to the CBD area. Get that into your head. Trains turnaround at Yishun to supplement the peak hour crowds, not to turnaround for FUN.
If you live in Sembawang and beyond, you have 2 choices:
1. Get your arse out of the train at Yishun and wait for the next train which is towards JE.
OR
2. Wait for a JE-bound train to come and board it, and go all the way to your destination.
Please get your facts right before you start giving bullcrap stories on how SMRT did not maintain it's trains.
For 1, SMRT has the cleanest trains I've ever seen. Compare them to Malaysia's KTM railway trains and from Indonesia, China etc., SMRT does cleaning of it's trains regularly.
2. If SMRT does not want to refurbish it's trains, do you still wanna take a old and filthy, with leaking air-con C151s?
You may know more of buses and planes than me, but I know more of trains than you. So please get your facts right before you say anything. If you have any queries, you can approach Manager433 who works at SMRT. He's even more "pro" than me.
How long ago do you mean by "last time"?Originally posted by sbst275:7 mins is ok??
Last time it was at 6 mins, the ridership recorded was lower than now..
How can waiting time be longer when ridership recorded has gone up?

Hmm... but it won't be possible.Originally posted by tintinspartan:Well, Only thing to do is to.............
Have SMRT to extend their peak hour services to Woodlands because most people live there.
Too bad this is how Singaporeans think. I cannot believe it that our PM just realised how packed our trains are.Originally posted by Oceane:You get what I mean? Singaporeans are never hard to please. They used the SARS excuse to increase waiting time to 7 minsOriginally posted by Oceane:How long ago do you mean by "last time"?
Ya EWL peak hour service not good. Because trains are deployed from UPDEP and CGDEP and they just go up and down the line without stopping halfway to turnaround and back to the CBD area.Originally posted by SMRT 32373238:i think SMRT should get at least 20 more new trains... well the idea of extending the peak hour stretch to woodlands isnt bad... and EWL the peak hour service also not as good as NSL's
But it would be 20 years later...Originally posted by Oceane:Well time will come when the C151s retire and SMRT will be FORCED to buy more trains.
Side track = 3rd track.Originally posted by oahiyeel:What's a sidetrack? a 3rd set of tracks? i was looking at the satelite image on google earth, but i dun see a sidetrack at YWT (YewTee?) I see 2 crossover tracks at woodlands station.. they cannot be used for turnback?
Ahem! Why you don't know that there IS a side track at WDL. Some test trains utilize it to park there and turn around.Originally posted by Oceane:Hmm... but it won't be possible.
For peak hour services to work, a side track is needed so that trains can utilise that track to turn over. The only places on the NSL with side tracks are after YWT SB and YIS NB. Peak hour trains operate from JUR to YWT, utilise the track then go back to JUR. Similarly, trains go from AMK to YIS, utilise the track then go down to MRB.
WDL doesn't have a side track... and to build one in order for peak hour services train service has to be disrupted... for god knows how long.
