Actually not very. It's just a technical fault.Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:
Sounds serious.
Technical fault? On the railway itself?Originally posted by ^tamago^:Actually not very. It's just a technical fault.
Sad... the nearest crossover is at Newton SB > NB Crossover 100m off SB. Means if service were to resume trains have to stop midway through the tunnel and turnaround use the SB > NB crossover.Originally posted by ^tamago^:Heard is sparks and smoke causing alarm to set off and cut off power at Dhoby Ghuat southbound tunnel. The SB which was stuck changed its destination code to DNB.Originally posted by Oceane:I nearly forgot... since this thing happened during peak hour... how come got DNB train at SB of Orchard?
Well, I wasn't, but I had to trap myself to give you the report.Originally posted by fairlady_xoxo:Were you trapped??
Actually no need what... the SB train stuck at Orchard can turnaround and use the SB > NB crossover to go to Newton...Originally posted by ^tamago^:The SB which was stuck changed its destination code to DNB.
No no. The problem is getting trains to run northbound between Marina Bay and Orchard, and you need to have supply of trains from the southbound or eastbound side.Originally posted by Oceane:Actually no need what... the SB train stuck at Orchard can turnaround and use the SB > NB crossover to go to Newton...

Turning the southbound trains back will only jam up the northbound tracks.
Crossover will only cause more trains running wastefully along NB stations where the traffic is not concentrated at, with less trains on standby when SB resumes service, especially when the majority of passengers are being stuck in town areas. Moreover, since the delay is expected to less only more than an hour, the trains should stay put.Originally posted by Oceane:But your photo shows that the DNB train is for Platform B SB platform leh...
If those two trains can crossover then good what... but anyways service also resume from NEW onwards.
Heng not like NEL last time... whole section of MRT close down for a couple days...
