SSO musicians entertain lunch crowd at various MRT stations
SMRT
Musicians from the Singapore Symphony Orchestra have been entertaining the bustling lunch crowd at various MRT stations all over Singapore, since March 29.
Four of them have been performing at the Raffles Xchange at Raffles Place MRT station for the past two days.
And for almost an hour, "The Fabulous Four" string quartet charmed their audience with a wide selection of well-loved classics.
The lunchtime concerts are held in conjunction with the launch of the SSO train, which will last till mid-May.
The effort is sponsored by SMRT as part of its Arts for the Community Programme.
This is not the first time SMRT is supporting the arts.
Last December, SSO musicians performed at Orchard MRT station at the launch of the SMRT Silver Tribute Fund which raises funds for elderly homes.
In another effort to raise money for this same fund, SMRT will be donating proceeds from a special SSO opera gala performance in July this year.

This reminds me of...
I was travelling on M>Train (Melbourne's metropolitan rail) back in yr 2002 when a group of 4 white men entered the train and began entertaining us with beautiful music (guitars and other music equipments) and songs. Then they took off their hats and began going around for donations. almost all pax felt "pai say" to refuse and donated, incl me.
Then they moved on the the other carriages and continued their entertainments.
