if the system is without ATP, it needs to run on RM (18km/h limit, motor stops at 16km/h). otherwise, CM or ATO will apply as long as ATP is active. when ATP is active, all track sections are coded with a speed limit and target speed (for next section).Originally posted by jetabt767400:Erm, sure everyone have heard of this mode in the operations of our MRT trains right?
How it works? Does the TO need to hold his hand on the stick throughout the stretch that the train is travelling or he only needs to adjust when the train enters the CM mode zone?
Thanks.
In order for the train officer to drive the train under CM, he has to use his hand and depress the dead man switch and move accordingly: P1 to P4 and B1 to B3 plus EM. If he let go his hand then the train will trip and stops immediately.Originally posted by jetabt767400:Erm, sure everyone have heard of this mode in the operations of our MRT trains right?

If the TO faints with his hand on the handle, while on CMM. Does the train continue without stopping? Just wondering.Originally posted by Manager433:In order for the train officer to drive the train under CM, he has to use his hand and depress the dead man switch and move accordingly: P1 to P4 and B1 to B3 plus EM. try to use ATP or watever to override the track codes lor.Originally posted by VODKA KE0601:If the TO faints with his hand on the handle, while on CMM. Does the train continue without stopping? Just wondering.
No way his hand still holding that handle if he faints. Becuase in order to move that handle, one must apply some force ( by pressing down ) a round holder, known as deadman switch. Then u can move that handle up ( power ) or down ( braking ). At any moment if you let go that deadman switch, the whole system will trip resulting in the train comes to a stop. Not many train drivers likes to drives a train in CM unless raining coz its really tiring holding down that damn handle. If u r driving a train from Boon Lay all the way to Pasir Ris in CM die lah.Originally posted by VODKA KE0601:If the TO faints with his hand on the handle, while on CMM. Luckily if it's due to rain, still can take a break between Tiong Bahru and Lavender.Originally posted by Manager433:If u r driving a train from Boon Lay all the way to Pasir Ris in CM die lah.
Upz, thanks for the knowledge, guys.Originally posted by jetabt767400:Haha, thanks guys, really cool explaination, but is it possible to use CM on dry days, when the ATP and auto systems are on?
If over run, lets say if the distance ish more than the permitted distance, then the train cannot reverse liao. Must proceed to the next station. Sorry, cannot disclose the info.Originally posted by VODKA KE0601:Upz, thanks for the knowledge, guys.
It's possible, in cases of a station overun/underrun, the TO have to switch to CMM or RMM (Restricted Manual Mode) and guide the train into position. If the TO continue in CMM past a red-signal, they lose protection from the ATP, and the mode of operation would automatically switched to RMM (IIRC).
Not true wor.Originally posted by ^tamago^:Luckily if it's due to rain, still can take a break between Tiong Bahru and Lavender.
But usually they dun drive in "rainy mode" once past tiong bahru or braking at outram park leh.... sometimes even have to drive in "faster mode".Originally posted by Manager433:Not true wor.
Faster mode doesnt mean the driver ish driving in auto mode. Coz if raining even in tunnel, train still move under CM for some reasons.Originally posted by ^tamago^:But usually they dun drive in "rainy mode" once past tiong bahru or braking at outram park leh.... sometimes even have to drive in "faster mode".
IsIt related to the "set-back limit" plate by the rails, why so secretive? Say lah.Originally posted by Manager433:If over run, lets say if the distance ish more than the permitted distance, then the train cannot reverse liao. Must proceed to the next station. Sorry, cannot disclose the info.
Doesn't that mean if it rained the whole day, they have to press that dead man's switch for the whole time?Originally posted by Manager433:Faster mode doesnt mean the driver ish driving in auto mode. Coz if raining even in tunnel, train still move under CM for some reasons.
think i encounter before.Originally posted by Manager433:If over run, lets say if the distance ish more than the permitted distance, then the train cannot reverse liao. Must proceed to the next station. Sorry, cannot disclose the info.
Arbo then?Originally posted by ^tamago^:Doesn't that mean if it rained the whole day, they have to press that dead man's switch for the whole time?
If i'm the TO, would probably use something to hold-down the deadman-switch, there's no surveillance in the driver's cabin, right? I meant sometimes i see them reading "the newpaper" or playing with their personal belongings.Originally posted by Manager433:Arbo then?
