Diversion at Ang Mo Kio MRT

this evening all northbound services had to use the middle platform at amk as two trains were stuck at the northbound platform. apparently the train in front (079/080) had stalled and a second train could not continue. thankfully there was the middle platform.

So were there any major disruptions

no. the trains simply shifted to middle platform before amk and back to northbound track after amk.

Whew, luckily it happened at a station where there's a middle platform otherwise, sure to have major disruption with commuters complaining about this & that including shuttle buses (if provided)

there was a small one...disruption for 15 mins i think......

any confirmation that the cause is a stalled train? cos it's looks like it.

Benson Tan, 37, saw two trains on the same track between Ang Mo Kio and Bishan stations yesterday (Sep 8.) at about 7pm. He said: "The two drivers were facing each other up there and signalling to each other. From where I was, it looked like one of them had mistakenly gone onto the wrong track!"

STOMP contacted SMRT and found out that the second train was called in to move the train that broke down onto a service track as part of a recovery procedure known as 'coupling'. The North-South train services were disrupted yesterday evening (Sep 8.) at 6.50pm between the Bishan and Ang Mo Kio stations. Services resumed at 7.10pm. -
so the stalled train was pulled to the northbound platform to dwell until the end of the day cos there are no crossovers at that strecth in the pic.Originally posted by VODKA KE0601:
