Take the north south line stretch especially between orchard and somerset. Alot of ang mos need to bend down to even enter the train..Originally posted by q0652227:Ah... 1.93 metres? That's quite high up... didn't really expect it to be so high. I guess my ability to judge height is greatly in need of tuning.
Anyway, how often do you see people with their heads touching these bars, or exceeding it? I have only seen it three times... these people can really see from one end of the carriage to the other without much obstruction.
oh. u're doing wat project sia...Originally posted by q0652227:Hmm... yah... I remember those information. They are no longer on the new site? Well, at least Wikipedia and sgWiki has them, although, of course, they do not provide this horizontal-pole-distance-from-ground information. Haha...
1.85m seems more like what I would estimate. I actually made some bars in a 3D program, and placed some humans inside (actually, just skeletons). I made one human my height, and raised the bar to 1.93m away from ground. Seems a bit too far from my head. I lowered it to 1.83m; a bit close. So, I raised it by two centimetres, and it seems ok now.
But it could very well be 1.93m.
It will certainly take up lots of time, if you make 3D. Normally, I make MRTs with paper and paper tracks and it takes me like 4 hours.Originally posted by q0652227:Ok... along almost the same line as my previous question: How tall are the MRT's doors (the doors allowing passengers to board/alight)?
Haha... yet another trivial question... you would think I am trying to build a 3D model of the train or something. Actually, I am indeed thinking of doing it... haha...
Can you post some photos of your MRT paper models?Originally posted by SBS9889U:Normally, I make MRTs with paper and paper tracks and it takes me like 4 hours.
Its not MRT actually, its a LRT for my fantasy train company:Originally posted by C751B:Can you post some photos of your MRT paper models?
We would like to see your work.
can be easily solved if u bring measuring tape and board one train to measure....Originally posted by q0652227:Yah... it is time-consuming indeed... especially if the final product is to look as realistic as possible...
So, anyone knows the height of those doors?
Tell you what : Take the train at late night (like after 2300) then there will be less passengers and disturbances for you.Originally posted by q0652227:Haha... I actually thought of bringing a measuring tape too; however, it would look extremely strange if I were to board a train, and then starts measuring the train in front of other passengers...
Well, perhaps I might do it. If you see a passenger with using a measuring tape to measure the train, that passenger will most likely be me...
I actually asked SMRT about this question and they say they cannot giv the specs due to security reasons Like people cant measure like dat.Originally posted by q0652227:Ok... along almost the same line as my previous question: How tall are the MRT's doors (the doors allowing passengers to board/alight)?

actually it depends on location la.. even after 11pm train also packed to the door, all the late shoppers rushing home..Originally posted by SBS9889U:Tell you what : Take the train at late night (like after 2300) then there will be less passengers and disturbances for you.
So, is that possible to ask KAWASAKI about the specifications of the MRT trains?Originally posted by jetabt767400:Measuring a train, taking tons of photographs and asking the train conductor about the specifications of the train is not considered abnormal in Japan. They are more than willing to tell you.
