Why must trains terminate ay Yishun stations?

i find it very irritating that trains at the north-south line going towrds Jurong East terminates at Yishun and goes back down to City Hall.
Why is the reason behind this? during after-office-hours, many will take the north-south trains to jurong east. it will always definately be very crowded, especially at yishun during 5pm to 6pm. while at the other side going down to city hall will definately be always very few people.
so what is the logic behind this? why can't all north-south trains just all go to Jurong East? it makes me feel like an idiot waiting for another jurong east bound train to come. it's such a waste of time.

The train operators just like you also want to knock off from work mah. Just nice reach yishun, also their knock off timing.

Same purpose like shortworking trips on buses. To alleviate the massive crowds on that sector during peak hours.

Partly because of history, Yishun was the terminal
Another reason is that the Yishun - CBD leg has higher demand still
But these days, like some buses short working trips, they are useless... Ppl now want it to terminate at least at Woodlands -

it's idiotic that yishun station already so jam packed with people already yet not allowed to board the train. must wait fo another 1 to come, in the end more pack.

The trains that terminate at Yishun station belong to Bishan Depot.
Letting trains terminate at Yishun allows for a higher frequency at the heavier corridor between Marina Bay and Yishun. I suppose statistics (and observation) do support the fact that half of passengers alight between Yishun and Dhoby Ghaut, especially at major transfer, popular and residential areas like Orchard, Toa Payoh, Bishan, Ang Mo Kio and Yio Chu Kang.
Hence, half of the trains will turn back at Yishun to shuttle as many people out of the CBD area as possible during peak hours.
Probably, probably, in the future the trains might decide to turn back at Woodlands, but unless there is a schedule revision and also enough extra trains (i expect 4 trains) to support this, that might not happen for a while.
And even if it happens, some trains are still expected to turn back at Yishun due to proximity to Bishan Depot. You see, putting the turning point too far defeats the purpose of extra trains supplementing the network as trains have to start leaving earlier to travel from Bishan Depot to Woodlands before reverting back.
