cross over here means they can be on either lines. u're right, it's random, but changi only supplies trains for EWL, and bishan supplys all but 8 of its trains (040 to 047) for EWL.Originally posted by SMRT 32373238:they have fixed trains that cross over meh? i tot anyhow one...
anyway i took 4 hours la camped for 2 at BSH stn for NSL trains, got out at CTH, went in again and camped at Kallang another 2hrs... yeap it was off-peak.. they don have peaks on sundays wat...
during peak all 106 trains are out? i tot they'd keep some in.. or maybe those that have broken down? or temp servicing?
yea lol we all know which trains look like what... i see.... that means those damn NEL trains also removed the builder plates... i was creating a list then they removed it... rrrOriginally posted by kawasaki2:The builder is on the wall at the last carriage inside the train.
UN-refurbished C151 trains have a black colour metal plate at the last carriage of each train. The refurbished one has the builder plate removed. C151 is the 1G trains.
The 3G trains all got builder plate located at the last carriage. For 3G trains, Kawasaki builder plate is red colour, Nippon Sharyo builder plate is blue colour.
The 2G Siemens trains got no builder plate.
Those 2 Alstom stocks should not be called 4G and 5GOriginally posted by SMRT 32373238:btw where do u see the train model thing? the C151 and stuff? i nv see this model number b4... wat are the other model numbers and wat do they stand for??
NEL train is made by Alstom, got no builder plate.Originally posted by SMRT 32373238:yea lol we all know which trains look like what... i see.... that means those damn NEL trains also removed the builder plates... i was creating a list then they removed it... rrr

no builder plate? the builder plate states the brand and year of arrival right? if yes then there WAS a builderplate... gold colour one... it said Alstom and 2001 or 2002...Originally posted by kawasaki2:NEL train is made by Alstom, got no builder plate.
The model number like Cxxx for SMRT trains I don't know derive from where.
NEL trains have no model number, they just call it Alstom Metropolis.
hmm i get it... thanks... btw does anyone know abt the car number system? wats the use of the '7' in the 7XXXX on NEL trains? seems so redundantOriginally posted by C751B:Those 2 Alstom stocks should not be called 4G and 5G
coz they're not in the "old" MRT system.
And for the model number(e.g. C151,C751B), they come from Contract No:
C751A=Alstom NEL trains --> see the bottom
C751B=Kawasaki "Black Trains"
Maybe it could be sth like this:Originally posted by SMRT 32373238:hmmm maybe its possible... but they could have continued the number system after the 3rd gens by making NEL *4**, after the 3rd gen's *3**...
Any reason why it sucks?Originally posted by Manager433:EMU numbers remain the same even after MLU. Fyi, korean technology su_cks.
I remember the 3G black trains had a very strong smell of some substance too when they first started running in their early days, 2000, 2001. It smelt 'new' to me, but now the smell no longer exists.Originally posted by trenzterra:Managed to board one of these refurb trains the other day... not really impressed.
The metal flooring that connects two carriages together aren't polished/painted at all... and the whole train smells of paint... Only good thing is that the speakers are loud and the lights are exceptionally bright.
wa i think u thinking abit very the far... haha well if the (X) is not stated on the train numbers then why they put 7 and 8 on the newest trains in the 1st place? kinda redundant no?Originally posted by NickL_C151:Maybe it could be sth like this:
1st 2nd and 3rd gen they have already prepared for refurbishment so 1st gen will become 4th gen, 2nd gen will become 5th gen and 3rd gen will become 6th gen. Going like this, they cannot affect the existing coach numbers so they cannot put 1xxxx or 2xxxx or 3xxxx, much less 4xxxx 5xxxx & 6xxxx so maybe they started this system when they got the Alstoms. So, maybe it goes like this:
1st Gen before Refurbishment: (1)xxxx
2nd Gen before Refurbishment: (2)xxxx
3rd Gen before Refurbishment: (3)xxxx
1st Gen after Refurbishment: (4)xxxx
2nd Gen after Refurbishment: (5)xxxx
3rd Gen after Refurbishment: (6)xxxx
NEL : 7xxxx
CCL : 8xxx
Number in brackets denotes not stated.
maybe u might try suggest to SMRT for their 2nd gen refurbishment: silver and gold-plate the whole train... like this very shiny...Originally posted by trenzterra:Managed to board one of these refurb trains the other day... not really impressed.

If there's one thing that fails to impress, it's the engine. 1G....Originally posted by SMRT 32373238:maybe u might try suggest to SMRT for their 2nd gen refurbishment: silver and gold-plate the whole train... like this very shiny...
give it some time.. smells wear out... u dont expect SMRT to air their trains for a year in the depot do u?
was there anything else that failed to impress? i'm curious to know cos i havent caught it yet.
haha at least its still working... unless ur tired of the sound...Originally posted by kawasaki2:If there's one thing that fails to impress, it's the engine. 1G....
Install a mp3 player in the driver cabin, when the train moves, music starts to play. iPod connected to the speakers.Originally posted by SMRT 32373238:haha at least its still working... unless ur tired of the sound...
maybe ask them install home-theater sound system that plays a different sound when the train moves...

Let's make some estimates:Originally posted by ignoramus2006:The refurbished 005/006 seem to be running regularly during the morning peak (0800) northbound from AMK Station everyday, and during the evening peak too.
They are either air-brakes or simply some stuff to send signals from the third ral to the shoe on the bogie.Originally posted by Superbus:I don't know if this is in any connection with the mid-life upgrades. Saw an EWL 1G train with white tube-like devices installed on the carriage-wheels.
it's a NSL peak hour train from bishan depot. it will turn back at yishun and will serve the MRB-YIS run twice from about 7am to 9.30am.Originally posted by kawasaki2:Let's make some estimates:
If let's say I board the mrt (southbound) from WDL at around 9am, do I have a chance of getting the refurbished train? Since PSR crossover should be over before 0800 hrs, this refurbished train which is northb. should turn around at JRE to become southbound.
What are the timings for the PSR crossover trains?
