This is a place to discuss about all sorts of trivias on any type of Singapore trains be it SMRT, SBST or KTM.
To start with, I heard from previous in-school discussions that if the caterer on a KTM train is on MC, then don't expect any stuff to be sold on board------and that the train would stop at a small village stop to let customers to grab any stuffs they can get.
Also it is suggested that sleeper trains should be boarded at the origin for hygiene reasons. -
Well for today when heading to CLE for photo I saw in JE two pax being clipped by the closing NSL train door.
And well in BL three NSmen obstructed the doorway as the train started moving.
Finally at Lakeside towards PRS a boy was seen conducting "pull up".\
Also at the end of the line in BL there is a sign "WARNING track circuit interruptor ahead". -
Also, did you notice that the trackside plates at SMRT stations were replaced, one of them being to warn them not to cross the yellow line and not to go down to tracks.
Another one, the " Value Life, Act Responsibly. ÉúÃüÒªÕä�§, ��ΪҪ¸ºÔð. Hargai Nyawa, Bertindak Dengan Tanggungjawab (and the Indian text)" must have replaced the "give way to alighting passengers" plate.
I sincerely believed that life is more important to courtesy, given that life's nature is very precious, where once gone, is gone FOREVER.
That is why the new set of sign plates, also in view of increase jump-down-to-track suicide cases, and cross-line-violation cases.
Any one who had been to "Agony Aunt" section of sgForums and who have read thru my "unhappy with 23/10......." thread should have know why I stressed on this point.
(I regret for my rash acts of wanting to commit suicide due to unsuccess then, down in that thread.) -
Today afternooon as I made my way to SBW, while waiting for the train in AMK, a relief driver is waiting at the northern end of the platform.
Meanwhile a passenger, looking quite old, strays past the yellow line.
And so I ran to the waiting relief driver to inform of this case.
And his reply was:
" The station is announcing already!"
And so, instead of a $500 fine on the straying person, no action was taken.
What a joke on train safety!!! -
Today, while in JB, near the KTM station (on the overhead bridge), saw a northbound train at about 1900h.
First came a whistle sound, then some sort of noise like a slow-moving bus --- a YDM4 loco.....and then 4 ASC coaches going out of the station.........slowly...........like a tortoise.
Even after the train was off the edge of the platform.......its coaches doors are still open........and the train is still moving slowly................................
Well, so, did anyone noticed that YDM4 are typically slower and noisier than any other class of KTM loco......?
Even the class25 were faster than the YDM4. (I saw it for myself in JB checkpoint while waiting to get past the immigration, seeing it a 25204 hauling a southbound Ekspres Sinaran Pagi down towards Singapore, at about 10 or more cars length.) -

that time me and my bunch of friends.. abt 15 of us.. were at Redhill MRT station... u know how narrow the platform is at the end of the station.. den the announcement came...
"passengers on the East-bound side... East-bound side.. please stand behind the yellow line..."
wah lao eh... the announcement not only was abt train safety, it was also abt making us feel malu..

apparently, someone must have been playing by walking on the escalator in its opposite direction of operation. he must have been damn malu but its for his own good, coz if they fall, theyll be falling 2 floors down (everyone noes how deep NEL stations are and how long each flight of escalator is).
