Frankly speaking, one rail operator is enough. Singapore is a small country, not like New York.

London is impressive as there is only 1 operator for all the rail(that is the government). Their sv quality isnt bad and it is easy to understand their map. After the bombing, they also have better security.

I don't really see the difference in having 1 or 2 companies. The prices are regulated and there isn't really any competition.
Say I live in Hougang, I can't say I prefer SMRT over SBST because there is no way for me ride an SMRT train on the NEL. And if I'm some kind of SMRT hardcore fan, taking a bus to AMK just to take an SMRT train would just be a waste of money and time.
(Umm.. Acronym overkill?) -
