Station to Station Distances

Braddell Station and Toa Payoh Station is very near to each other, (straight line distance), as well as Somerset and Orchard stations.
why is it so that the trains always seems to take very long to reach the station from the previous? (such as Toa Payoh to Braddell, it may take 15secs + but is very long in the end..) -

Because by the time the train speeds up, it's time to slow down.
Unless you can unload passengers whilst doing 70km/h. -

For SMRT tracks:
furthest ones- between Khatib and Yio Chu Kang
between Expo and Changi
between Yew Tee and Kranji.
Best time for the train driver to 'catch up with the timetable' is Khatib-YCK and Yew Tee-Kranji. -
another was between Clementi and Buona Vista, but Dover Station halves that now..
