I was from SP the last time in my poly days, last time no have the dover station. most ppl either take bus 74 to bonua vista, or 147, 106, 105, 166 or 14 to clementi... or they walk to bouna vista station one.

tanah merah isnt doing very badly at all..there are a few schools served by tanah merah namely Anglican High, St Anthony's Canossian Schools, Temasek Secondary, Bedok North Secondary, Temasek JC etc. many students use this station everyday and i dont see any reason to close it..Originally posted by tranquilice:Kranji, Marina Bay, Tanah Merah.

the exact reason behind the building of Dover station was because of SP students..it was featured in the straits times when dover was under construction..i cant rmb exactly when..but they mentioned that SP was right smack in the middle of clementi and buona vista and students had a hard time finding transport to SP everyday so after many complaints and rantings they decided to build Dover..Originally posted by sbst275:Then last time when there was no Dover, how SP ppl survived? I don't see the reason why there is a need to close down 3 stations. If I were to choose, I will not even close down one to maintain singapore's world class train system title. Why the need to bring any unnecessary convenience?

Woodleigh station is not even opened in the first place. How can it be closed?
I would strongly recommend you not to shoot out sweeping statements from your mouth such as closing Expo, Chinese Garden, Dover Stations. To you, these stations may be totally useless. However, you have to take in consideration of people who work; live near those stations.
For example, there are exhbitions held at expos halls frequently. So closing down a station is an obvious no-no here.
Have you ever spared a thought for those students at Spore Poly? How much convinence has Dover Station brought to them?
Dont forget the flats opposite Chinese Garden station. There are only services 180 and 335 there, so closing down the station will be hell to those residents.
Please think of others instead of only yourself before making such silly opinions. -

- Reason being that Marina Bay exists is NOT because of the BBQ Outlets at Marina Bay... Reason is that at that point of time when they were still in the planning stage, Marina Bay wasnt inside the plan in the 1st place.. The problems lies at Raffles Place Stn. Due to the fact that it would be an interchange station, there would be problems of changing tracks so as to move back to Yishun in the opposite direction. So that is why they had decided to extend the MRT line (NorthSouth Line ) into the Marina bay area so that the trains would have a decent stop to terminate.
Expo / Chinese Garden / Dover :
- If you close down this few stns, have you thought of the people that are relying on these few stations to get to work, play or Home...
- Expo... when mentioning about Expo, one would alwayz think of the Expo Convention Halls which is sited next to the Expo Station. But have you people spare a thought on those people who are working inside the Changi Business Park ?? Obviously that the answer is NO...
- Chinese Gdn. / Dover... Enough Said.. ive explained my stand..
p.s. If i were to take the project of "which 3 stns. i choose to close?" i would tell the person-in-charge that my stand is.. There's NO stations that deserved to be CLOSE as this would affect Singapore in one way or another... -

This will instill more fear in the country.
Because everyone will be afraid they would be caught in trains when bombs are activated. The majority of the commuters will be shocked. They will lose confidence in public transport and the Government.
This is more effective than Orchard.
