It can also bring pple living in other areas to go to Bukit Timah and Bukit Panjang area in a shorter time.....Originally posted by CAIX:I think the main purpose of constructing the BTL (Bukit-Timah Line) is to serve residence living at Bukit Timah & Holland area and transport them to downtown.

The Government has announced plans to build three new lines, namely the Bukit Timah Line, the Eastern Region Line and the Jurong Region Line.
The three lines are estimated to cost more than S$11 billion and will be built within the next 10 to 15 years. While the Government will try to expedite the development of these three projects, the actual schedule will depend on the state of the economy, which determines funding availability, and how fast we can complete the engineering and technical studies.
The Bukit Timah Line will serve the Bukit Panjang, Upper Bukit Timah and Bukit Timah regions. The line will alleviate the heavy traffic in the Upper Bukit Timah/Bukit Timah/Dunearn Road corridor.
Both are urgent, IMO. One serve Bukit Timah and one serve Marine Parade.Originally posted by disappear:Which line do u think is more urgent and should be built first? Eastern Region Line or Bukit Timah Line?
i feels that BTL is needed in the way that it acts like a "north west line" in between NS line and EW line, like how NEL is in between NS line and EW line.....Originally posted by medicheng:I think BTL is more needed.
it would be nice if parkway parade area hav an mrt station.Originally posted by SBS9889U:I want both! Both as important to me!
Maybe sing wont sink, they can built it above land.Originally posted by gorby107:They must well built every MRT/LRT stations at every cormer of the island so people won't complaint but our tax will sure rise one and maybe Singapore would sink??
Yes, it could be much harder to build there... alot of shops and a canal running between the roads. Alot of schools there, a race course and many more things.Originally posted by finoq:I want I want
I so long no MRT liao, only use buses
But then this line will be along Dunearn?Bukit Timah, will it cause lots of inconvenience? Lots of schools and private housing, see now Upp Bt Timah do road widening so ma fan liaoz...
i would probably go to Parkway Parade every weekOriginally posted by SBS9889U:But i dont think there is demand. Buses from MArine Parade links to everywhere.
However, if there is, it would be convienient for me!
if they wanna the rail network to be as comprehensive as London's, then they hav to built MRT/LRT stations everywhere. look at the london system map, is is so confusing. perhaps, singapore dont need too many lines, but maybe there has to be a certain number of lines so that it is generally possible to use the MRT/LRT to get from one place to another more directly, for example, Hougang to bedok, using CCL, maybe still can....Originally posted by gorby107:They must well built every MRT/LRT stations at every cormer of the island so people won't complaint but our tax will sure rise one and maybe Singapore would sink??
Although Bukit Timah Line is likely to be fully underground, Eastern Region Line is should be mostly underground, not fully.Originally posted by SBS9889U:Maybe sing wont sink, they can built it above land.
