today i go there, i was shocked to see that the large part of the station has been block off. i think this station is the only station which has the least walking space now!
the following is a feedback reply from LTA regarding the A & A works at NS17. was surprised that they will be building another platform at NSL.

You may like to know that the upgrading and Addition and Alteration (A&A) works to the existing station is in progress together with the construction of a new station to interchange with Circle Line (CCL).
The A&A works include air-conditioning and installing platform screen doors at the existing station platform. In addition, a new platform would be constructed to serve the southbound train service, leaving the existing platform for serving northbound trains only. This would ease congestion at the current platform. The A&A works are expected to be completed by end 2008.

I think that is prob why the majority of the area of the concourse level has been blocked off? the station outside paid area has such a small space for walking now---- what is left for the pessenger to walk on is the bit of space outside the faregates with the side entrances....

perhaps there isnt a middle platform, as the platform screen door website say only going to install door for two sides only. because if there is middle platform i think more screen door have to be install. -
LTA's reply (in the first post) provided limited details, from the information gathered, southbound trains will open doors on the left like at Braddell station (if there isn't a middle track).
The purpose of constructing an additional platform is to relieve the congestion on the current platform, and to provide space for the construction of an underground walkway to the future CCL station. As the future CCL station and the walkway are air-conditioned (because they are underground), the NSL station has to be upgraded with air-conditioning. -

When the construction carrys on, we will know what will be built or modified. ok, i THINK aft upgrading, Bishan station will b the only station in sg with this design. THINK it's gonna b like that (top view):

sorry tt im using txt, n not image, coz its less-troublesome. they shld use glass panels instead of concrete for the new wall so tt we can still c our beloved trains (on the south-bound tracks from the new north-bound platform). -
There are info about the new Bishan stn at the current Bishan stn outside the temp. toilet. Go and take a look, quite impressive.

Yup. BTW, it is Guardian. It was a triangular stand with three posters. maybe CCL trains may share same track with NSL?
but its good that theres the renovation. the platform area is very narrow and with all those suicide deaths and accidents lately, its an overall good idea -
