The flashing orange light means the train is being operated under the Coded Manual Mode(CM Mode). The "driver"(TO) is fully controlling the train.Originally posted by jetabt767400:

Well, humans do invent/install alot of things which are not used in real life, eh?Originally posted by shinkansen:For what purpose? when the train breakdown the driver call for rescue when his/her walkie talkie battery flat?

Like this trackside phone, I think when anyone in emergency pick up the phone, it is already rusted.
So, plus the phones at the ends of the platforms, what are they for too? Just THAT emergency again?...
SMRT should really consider 3 rows of handles than the 2 on the new trains then more people will willingly move in to the centre of the car.Originally posted by vivienlee:

Recently, a similar case happened at BSH station, and I witnessed it. A group of 4-5 technicians were repairing a faulty electrical point at one end of the northbound platform, while one technician was standing on the platform. The station manager was talking on the telephone located at the end of the platform.Originally posted by jetabt767400:
Two men were working on the joint, and this photo was taken as the train from Changi Airport rolls in. Note that the technical crew were waving the yellow flag even as the train is in close range. The train too had to stop several times before and the orange light on top of the front emergency kept flashing, any idea what it means?
The train was 3311(facing)/3312, and run number 140.
