  For the uninitiated, Bettie Page was an American pin-up model in the 1950s. She was "notorious" mainly because of her nude photoshoots in men's magazines which included "Playboy" during that period. Page was also reputed to be America's first bondage model, paving the way for the fetish genre at a time when it was still considered taboo in mainstream society.
