These modern women are no wide-eyed innocent virgins anyway, so maybe to them a romp between the sheets is probably just a natural consequence of the romances with their beaus. Not to mention perhaps it could be an enjoyable form of recreation to them as well.
Of course, there could also be the more conventional case in which the beau was unwilling to settle down, but accidentally knocked the lady up in a moment of passionate folly. So being a responsible man (and probably silently glad that his mate was not barren), he had no choice but to marry. -
