NTU still smacks of 'poly' feeling

Not to belittle poly people, but I think NTU doesn't feel like a university, but more like a poly. You can see it in the rules, the buildings, the curriculum structure. Everytime I pass thru the NTU gates, I getthis feeling of being in an overglorified poly in my mind.
NUS is probably the only one with a feel of varsity in it. Ah... but NUS doesn't offer accountancy... -
Perhaps you would like to elaborate what exactly issit about the buildings, structure, modules etc. that makes you feel that NTU is like a poly?

Ha... I feel NTU is more like a China University rather than a poly feeling.. Almost all the students in NTU are China people.. Lecturers, students, staffs... Sometimes u feel like you are in China man the moment u step into NTU.
.. It will even make you wonder whether you are in China or not....
Wonder why the government allow so many China people to come in to Singapore ? Is it that there are no clever people in Singapore ? Sooner or later Singapore will be ruled by China people man... -
Most of the china lecturers are fxxxuped, they might be very knowledgable but so wat! we dun knoe what the hell they are tokking abt... pls send em for spoken english course!!!!

Well, the academic building in NTU is limited to North Spine and South Spine. Everything is concentrated in a few places, which really reminds me of JC and Poly.
University should have this 'open' feeling where faculties are distinct, each with its own character, with its own buildings, like NUS, or any other colleges overseas.
As for the rules, how about not attending tutorial for 3 times, and you're barred from exams, and the administration is so 'against' setting up of clubs and societies. (a lot of red tapes). There is little feeling of entrepreneurship, academic freedom and development, or even the spirit of youthful boldness...
Everything runs round the mill, round the system... so rigid and stale... Makes you wonder -- is this the place that gives you the best time of your life?

i find that NTU does not have any representation of any poly 'spirit' or feeling......
i was from SP, graduating from EEE soon,
poly gives me a carefree type of environment that allows pple to roam freely...rules r there to follow but u can do anything stupid there so long as u dont get caught.
while in NTU, there r more rules n restriction....pple there have their own mission to pursue...TO GET FIRST CLASS, OR SECOND CLASS CERT by all means....
it is more like '25hours' studying type of environment...

I guess a institution will always be an instutition. why should be bother whether it feels like a poly or not??? maybe things r for u to create, not for u to wait to happen??? let's get be contented if u r not going to create ur own world in there...
