its hard to use for beginners la..Originally posted by Simon Dean:If DS is noob how come it can kill so many people even in late game
No character is noob only the person is.
lets say they need money to keep the servers running(ladders and all) so you can just play at battlenetOriginally posted by sand king:try out different heros... dont ask for opions... use the hero that fits you.
dont worry every1 was a noob... oh ya... how come must pay to go battlenet?
ok you should just see medusa with skadiOriginally posted by jasonification:use medusa. her mana shield ability gives u ample time to retreat before you die. get a perseverance and upgrade it to a linken's sphere to ward off nukers. :] with perseverance u not only regenerate life, but mana, thus helping ur total "life" :]
yes very helpful... dark ritual and novaOriginally posted by dibilo:lich is a good starting character to use...

haha i m a fellow noob here. my friends can't stand my noobness, but these are what i do anyway.
Learn to farm. hold down alt to see the life of enemy creeps. try to get the timing of your hero's attack speed right so that you strike it just before your own creeps kill it. it requires some practise but after a few times using that hero it should be rather okay.
Know your own strengths and weakness and specialise a hero accordingly. For example, I know I am rather weak in melee heroes so during -ap games i will just choose ranged heroes. try to play a particular a few times to know its own weakness. for example, my fav demon witch is rather paper, so i know that i can't be too garang with it.
Learn to deny. Well, if farming is helping you grow, then denying is preventing your enemy from growing. Basically, denying is when killing your own creeps when it has less than half of its hp left. Press A to manually attack it. Denying not only denies your enemy money, but also deny him the exp he needs to lvl up. However, learn to farm before learning to deny. Denying takes a lot of practise.
Experiment with and read up on different item builds. Try to read up on the items on www.dota-allstars.com. Rather useful as it gives you a general idea on how much money you need to get stronger. If you are playing -ap, get a ring of regeneration + clarity potion + sapphire water first. It reduces your need to keep shuttling back to the fountain to replenish hp and mana. Also, try to get items that are useful to your hero type. For intelligence heroes, get stuffs like euls, soul booster, dagon. For agility get sange and yasha etc. Ask more experienced players for advice on item builds. There's no best item build. It all depends on how you use the item.
Participate in team play. It does not matter if you do not get kills in your first few games. Try to help your teammates get kill like softening up your potential enemies. Also do remember to report which heroes are missing from your lane if they are not seen for some time (eg for 1 min+). If they ask you move back, listen as they have a good reason to suspect that backstabbing may occur.
Do not be too gung-ho. When chasing a hero, if he goes past his tower, do not chase a lot further as his teammates may be waiting there for you to walk into their trap. Do not try to tank (ie allow creeps to whack you and diminish your life) creeps or enemy heroes unless you have a good tanking hero (eg Skeleton King). Wait for the best time to strike and then strike swift and finish the enemy heroes off.
That's all I think. I am also just learning the ropes of the game now. It takes time to get better.
