Phantom Lancer

seen the previous topic about him, had tried him out several times, all i can say that he's the best ks-er, gd farmer, pusher and one of the best late game hero. here's my mini guide.
items to get:
PT
Y&S
Radiance
Hyper
*Butterfly
*Divine
*usually, game alr ended be4 u got these items.
skills:
ww lvl1
max lance
max jux
max ww
max stats
PE when available
early game, try to get RoH asap. dun buy those 'petty' items. go for RoH immediately. den slowly get ur PT and Y&S. note to take, be very very very caution in early game. nv go solo lane unless the lane only got 1 enemy and he's not very gd. always try to get the last hits. ks if possible
by mid game, u may still building for ur Y&S. DO NOT take part in any heads-on (ganging ppls is fine), unless the opp have pushed into your base. go and find a lane which is suitable for farming. take the creeps if no choice. by now, ur illusions shld be popping our freely.
late game, just do what u're supposed to do. -

He cannot spam many images in early game yet and VERY early game it is easy to tell who is real and who is not. -
Lancer not very good against those heroes with AoE spells (Sniper's scattershot, Tauren's earthquake, Tiny's avalanche etc), because those spells will kill all your illusions almost instantly.
Lancer is a very team-mate dependant hero. If your team is good and the enemies are being pushed back, then you can farm freely. Or else, it's hard for the PL to get all the pro items that easily. -

Which means if your team isn't doing that great from the start, your PL is more or less screwed... Sad but true. -
i still think manta style is the best.
each fight can generate an average of 4 images.
1 x 36 + 4 x 36 + 2 x 36 = 248 mana burnt off (248 damage) per each whack. -

imagine 9 PLancer coming towards u, u duno which is real n gem also cant diffferentiate which is real

i feel that lancer does not have to be dependant at all, UNLESS, you want to get kills and etc. as long as you play defensive, you will become very strong in the later parts of the game. the most important for lancer is to gain levels ASAP and always have enough mana to dopplewalk. i cna say that the lancer is one of my fav heros, even though i may only get few hero kills in the game, i almost never die, on top of being the key factor of pushes, destroying towers and fooling enemies.Originally posted by skyfoo:lancer is dependant only in early and mid game, very dependant. u gotta have a team that can withstand the attack from opp so that u can go farm. but afterwhich, u can play your game -

he needs void stone man or at least ring of basillus..
early game if he wana hunt down heroes,he's mana usage is too much for his pathetic mana pool..

one mistake many pl made is only making the original pl to run while left the rest fighting. what a pro would do is using make the illusions to run in diff directions to confuse the opp. or u can get an illusion to run away, making enemies to think that is the real pl.
