  Ok,firstly make sure warcraft is not running yet,den key in your friends ip address choose the start warcraft function,den open your warcraft and go into local area network.Possible reasons why it might not work,different version or your friend could be behind a router,or he might have given you the wrong ip address if he's behind some firewall.
